@BReguided Nah, German here, we drink beer on trains all the time and I thought it was a myth that you could actually get fined for that. It may be officially forbidden on some trains but others even sell you beer themselves so it‘s an extremely petty rule to enforce.

@XX28658231 During the process, I asked the inspector where it said “no alcohol” and she couldn’t find a single sticker near where I sat. 5 minutes later she passed and was like “I found a sticker” and it was a tiny thing half way down the carriage and barely visible.

@BReguided It is a clusterfuck but there are pictograms. Generally, it's either consuming or having an open container. Just put the bottle in your bag/jacket. Or, in your case, don't drink in front of the attendant. It's basically an idiot/drunkard tax, hence the replies you got.

@BReguided It's really not just them, it is a lot of all kinds of regional trains. Though not all, which remains confusing. I think the ones (100% wrongly) trying to argue with you that it was not a train, but a metro, were way more annoying.
