An underused asset for sure. The CTA also runs frequent evening service - and soon a third overnight line with the Orange Line!

Would love to see @metrolosangeles Rail operate more frequently at night! Every 20 minutes after 8 pm feels sparse for a region home to the second largest city in the US! 🫨 Every 10-12 would be awesome!🙏🏽 In Boston, @MBTA service still runs frequently well into the night!🫢🚇

@Cassy_Horton Yes! The article also seems to lean heavily on homicides (and to a lesser extent robberies) being a primary definition of crime. Happy to see homicides down for sure, but quality of life crime rates are also important!

Residents aren’t “misperceiving” reality. In a recent public safety meeting, LAPD and County officials acknowledged aggravated assaults are up DTLA and linked much of the escalating violence to meth-induced psychosis. Many crimes go unreported because calls often go unanswered.

In responding to a student email, I somehow crossed "certainly no need to apologize" with "glad that makes sense." My new sentence became "certainly no need to make sense." Oops.

@metrolosangeles FYI: all of the QR readers at Pershing Square (B/D) 5th Street entrance are not working for Metrolink tickets. One reader shows "invalid card;" others are turned off completely. I tried to report using the Transit Watch app but that has been down for a few weeks.

@LeighGiangreco I remember the days when big gaps would mean the rail control center would send trains express to maintain spacing. Doesn't seem like that happens as much any longer.

People saying “take an uber” 1. My tax dollars are ALREADY FUNDING A TRAIN THAT SHOULD WORK 2. So you want the roads in Chicago to be even MORE congested? 3. We should drive less, the world is on fire

@Cassy_Horton Absolutely - and there is also still demand beyond what current service levels provide. Improving evening service headways to less than 20 minutes would be huge. Would be surprised if there isn't a decent amount of latent demand there.

If you ride the Metro during commuting hours or on the weekends it’s jam packed. Heavy and light rail are huge successes already. Can and should more folks ride in LA? Yes. Will they? Yes. Are trains empty waiting for people to come? No way.

@Cassy_Horton @MattFinnFNC That is definitely MacArthur Park, although a couple of different national media organizations have reported it incorrectly (even in their live shots) as DTLA.

@beckyhartung Would also love to see fairly easy items such as TSP for rail lines, which we did (albeit briefly) during the I-10 closure after the 2023 fire.

Why haven’t Los Angeles officials been pushing for residents to conserve their energy use? They could encourage businesses to allow some WFH flexibility and improve their own comms/maps/graphics to use public transit…like tell us how we can navigate this federal disaster?

It’s not LA. It’s Rancho Cucamonga. It’s 80 minutes more by Metrolink on trains that run once per hour.
