Hello everyone. It is good to see all of you after my Hiatus from X. after coming back, I noticed a trend that I believe needs adjustment, and this is what this post is about. First, it is important for us to ask the simple question, what are our reasons for being here? Mine's straightforward: Amplify ideas that build momentum for us, connect with our crowd, and undercut the opposition's outrage machine. If that's also you, hear me out. I've engaged in my fair share of battles with these people, if you can call it that lol, but i was thinking one sharp take-down could flip the script. It doesn't. It fuels the fire. Scrolling X over morning coffee, you spot it: A DNC paid sellout drops a half-baked hit on taxes or borders. Instinct screams "respond". But those are clickbait traps, wired for provocation. Reply, and you tell the algo: "This is gold—spread it." Their spin invades neutral feeds, undecided eyes, even ours. Your point? Drowned in a troll-filled reply abyss. OP ignores, post surges 10K impressions, my feed sours with more bait. It hollows you,and wastes your time, while helping them. Systemically, it amps their post by a large margin, check the graph below to see the impact of a reply compared to a like or even a share(from an analysis of X's open source code on Github).
so what to do, you may ask, here's some of the changes that I have been personally trying to implement, or plan on doing so in the future:
1- Only reply to original posts from conservatives, this will boost our message, and you will still be able to express your POV.
2-make your own original content- while I know the algo hasn't been kind, this will always be a net positive compared to boosting their content, even if you only get 5 views.
3-clean your feed, mute the accounts that constantly rage bait, also click on the 3 dots on their post and let the algo know that you are not interested.
4- if you must reply to them, I suggest you take a screenshot to their post and make your own post about it. this will not help them one bit, all while being able to voice your opinion.
