Oh dear 😢 Rest in peace mainini. You leave a gap as one of the few female political players. You were a people’s person. You got along with everyone. A warm and friendly person, even if we did not always agree on political views, I respected your boldness, tenacity and warm character.

One Man One Vote Still Applies Under Parliamentary Presidential Voting. The introduction of provisions under CAB3 allowing Parliament to vote for the President has sparked intense debate, with sections of the opposition falsely claiming that the move destroys the principle of one man one vote. However, such arguments ignore the reality of how representative democracy functions across the world. Under CAB3, citizens would still directly vote for councillors and Members of Parliament. This means the people remain the primary source of authority and democratic legitimacy. The MPs elected by the people would then exercise that mandate in Parliament, including participating in the election of the President. In essence, the power would still originate from the citizens themselves. The principle of one man one vote is not limited only to directly choosing a President. It also includes electing representatives who make decisions on behalf of the people. This is the foundation of representative democracy practised in many democratic nations worldwide. Several countries elect their Presidents indirectly through Parliament or electoral systems, yet they remain fully democratic and constitutional states. What CAB3 introduces is therefore not the removal of democracy, but a constitutional mechanism rooted in representative governance. The opposition’s attempt to portray parliamentary presidential voting as undemocratic is largely political rhetoric designed to create fear and confusion among citizens. In reality, every MP who would participate in electing the President would have first been chosen by the people through the ballot box. That means the people’s voice and authority would still guide the process. Democracy would remain intact because sovereignty would continue to rest with the citizens. CAB3 should therefore be understood within the broader framework of constitutional governance and representative democracy, not through emotional political narratives aimed at misleading the public. @ZANUPF_Official @hazelwekwagondo @tendaishe06 @matinyarare @edmnangagwa @bashi92178 @SokoCindy @MadzivaNehemiah @GrainfulTrust @JamesonTimba @BitiTendai
