I understand that new neighborhoods will not be mature enough to have wonderful canopy trees, duh. But why are they (basically) not planting any trees at all? I think I see four or five baby trees? A new neighborhood rarely looks good, but ones like this will NEVER look good.

Important to remember that thanks to the Civil Rights Act of 1991, which HW Bush signed into law, disparate impact was enshrined as a legal concept and it is now literally illegal to have a fair test that disproportionately impacts protected classes So requiring cops to do push ups or basic logical reasoning problems during an employment test, despite the obvious connections to the job, is illegal if women can do fewer pushups then men and thus pass it at a lower rate. Or if blacks can’t pass the logical reasoning problems as well as whites, etc Such is much of the reason why America is declining

When I was in law school, we learned about something called “the one-way ratchet theory of rights.”  This legalistic abomination, pushed by Thurgood Marshall among others, contended that once a governmental entity created a new “right,” it could not later decide to take that “right” away.  It now appears federal district courts are putting the one-way ratchet theory to a new use: if a Democrat administration expands the government, a Republican administration cannot later undo the expansion, even if it uses the same procedural mechanisms.  Government can never shrink; it can only grow.  As with all of The Left’s “legal” theories, The Left always wins.
