Those Eikkon Battles were not fun. They were mindless button-mashers that overstayed their welcome with each encounter. It baffles me that, if they are insisting on going down the action RPG route, all this title had to do was take FF7 Remake mechanics and add its own twist unique to 16. Give me fully controlled Party members. The game's return to traditional fantasy would have been perfect to bring back the class system, an overworld map to explore, equipment, and a crafting system that actually means something. Instead, they double down and go completely Character Action game and said fuck the RPG aspect of the game. Hopefully FF17 delivers something that will define the series for the next generation.
