A thread of 2A citations. Most are 18th/19th century cites showing 2A to be an individual Right, but some are 20th century and some show the militia to be comprised of all citizens and some are oddballs. Starting with: the militia isn't just American.. x.com/2aHistory/stat…
2A History@2aHistory

Another history tidbit on English militia practices of late 18th century & earlier. 1) Not just a "colonist" thing that militias existed. 2) Wasn't necessary for militia members to actively muster & train. 3) It was common to keep arms in homes. Militias of London - 1782

This lawsuit against overly oppressive gun permit schemes is in the same circuit court that overturned NJ's AWB and magazine bans Friday. Love to see it! Keep it up, DOJ!
Firearms Policy Coalition@gunpolicy

A US Virgin Islands federal judge denied the territory's motion to stay the briefing in DOJ's lawsuit against its gun permit scheme, saying that "the Court notes with disappointment Defense counsel’s glaring lack of attention to basic litigation procedures."

Apparently you haven’t looked at the research showing Capitalism & Colonization HAVE KILLED FAR MORE! Funny, Chris Hedges, Max Blumenthal, Caitlin Johnston & other journalists manages to keep their integrity & professionalism intact in their tweets!

It’s a tweet, not journalism, Mensa. Your comrades already murdered 100 million souls for your backward, industrial-age claptrap, so you can burrow back into the ash heap of history where you belong.

@HeavilyRecruitd Semiauto rifles were sold on the civilian market for decades before the military adopted any. Yep. If you read enough old articles, it's funny to see how much of the American public considered bolt actions as weapons of war from 1890's-1920's, and nobody should use them.

@2aHistory And that's just the AR platform itself. Autoloading guns have been around for centuries (Puckle gun et al). Smokeless gun powder was developed in 1884, detachable box magazines in 1875. The AR is a twist on the Stg 44, itself an improvement of the Mkb 42. And on, and on.

"ShOoTiNg An AnImAl WiTh A SeMiAuTo Is BrUtAl AnD wIlL sHrEd ThE AnImAl" I so love reading gun twitter. Sears & Roebuck sold these in 1908, high power semiauto rifles with detachable magazines. This is OLD tech, and 223's do not shred animals, ya doof.

@BumpstockBarbie to more violence. i also dont 100% agree with having an assault rifle in most cases. for hunting its too brutal and can shred whatever animal you’re hunting and having an automatic gun for self defense just seems overkill in my personal opinion. one of those things i feel

@HeavilyRecruitd That's true. If you look at the time from ratification of 2A up to the invention of Gatling guns and lever actions, it's about equal to the time that the AR15 has been around. Tech has always been improving, and the AR isn't new tech any more.

@2aHistory But it's important to highlight, as that is the level of ignorance and brainwashing that young Americans have nowadays. And most are not willing to admit that they just mindlessly accepted the lies.

@2aHistory The funniest part is that plenty of states don't allow deer hunting with the .223/5.56 cartridge because it's 'underpowered'. Can't make this stuff up. 🤣

@Game0gre If the 2A is about killing cops, then it's about murdering cops. They literally say they don't need a reason beyond the fact that cops enforce laws.

@2aHistory No one said anything about murdering anyone? Defending yourself isn't murder. Your entire argument seems based around the fact that cops are called cops. If that's the case then it's nonsensical but I still don't exactly know what you're arguing.

@Name54939 @gsd7373 @Game0gre Already covered this. Many guns were designed for war and then later modified for civilian use. But fine.. you can call your AR that you picked up at Cabelas a weapon of war if it makes you feel better, before you take it out to shoot paper or feral hogs.

@2aHistory @Game0gre Yes, you are being silly The AR-15 was created for the military to be used in war, used by the military in war, & 60 yrs later is still being used by the military in war. Many militaries have used the AR-15 in war. New AR-15s are being adopted to go to war. It is a weapon of war

@Hughges_Janus @2aHistory @FortySacks That's why they picked that as the length; the lawmakers of the time wanted to be seen as stopped "Saturday night specials," but still permit handgun ownership/shooting. It's quite an antiquated law in the age of 3D printing, suffice to say.

@gsd7373 @Game0gre So every Mauser derived bolt action is a weapon of war? Probably seen use in more wars than the AR15.. by quite a bit actually. The argument is silly. It was on the civilian market within a few years, and not for people to go to battlefields. As a sporting rifle.

@2aHistory @Game0gre Yes, many of our weapons are weapons of war. But the AR-15 itself was designed and created specifically at the request of the US military. The AR-15 has been used in every war since vietnam. To say its not a weapon of war is silly nonsense. The 2A was written for weapons of war.

@Calibremag @FortySacks So what guns make up that 2 million number that Canadians have buried under their outhouses? The fact that's even a thing already indicates how far down the shithole your country is. But tell me the types of guns..

Simple answer? Grok is wrong. Long answer? The only guns Trudeau banned that *were* registered were about 120k AR-15s, but they were previously registered as restricted firearms (treated the same was as handguns), and the registrations were nullified when they were banned because the owners didn't have the prohibited-class licenses required to have prohibited firearms registered to them. The vast majority of guns he banned were non-restricted firearms, which don't need to be registered. So effectively, everything he banned isn't included in the number of registered prohibited firearms Grok pulled up - it just reflects the total of pre-existing prohib guns that were/are registered to prohibited license holders. AI doing AI things. The 2M estimate is from import/export records, industry, etc. In reality no one knows the exactly number, but after 15 years covering this stuff here, that sounds about right to me.

@Calibremag @Hughges_Janus @FortySacks 105mm, about 4.13".. And no, that's a totally arbitrary and ridiculous law. First, I get guns shipped to my house. So your statement there isn't complete. Second, Canada has 'stupid' short barreled shotgun laws also.
