A $436 million pandemic boost greatly improved child-care access for families. It could all be lost, Elizabeth Groginsky preached, if workers aren’t adequately paid. wapo.st/3fCeBT9

Underrated challenge for new venture formations: finding a name that hasn’t already been taken or used.

I hope my bosses at @wamu885 like 3-year-olds, because mine just loudly barged into the Zoom meeting where I was discussing our elections coverage and demanded a snack.

With many of the world’s biggest companies proclaiming that they’ll become remote-first all I can think is... What are we going to do with all those empty buildings? Big opportunity. I’d love to hear your ideas! I’ll go first... 👇

Daycare has always been a heavily regulated industry but as a result of the low ratios, you get some social distancing by default. It does not have the same risk profile as school. workingmother.com/why-daycare-mi…

@abramsonjenny Very accurate. We took a hit over lockdown and opened at 30% capacity. But due to a surge of demand, we expect to be full by the fall. We're growing, and hiring!

Time for the WPA of our generation?! College kids who can’t start + recent grads with no jobs help support kids with no school whose parents need to work. (Oh and while we are at it, childcare subsidies...daycare centers are at 30% capacity and some families have no option!)🙏🏻

@sarahkunst Hi Sarah, our pitch deck is poignantly dated March 2020, before Covid impacted the US. While our company has survived, the deck is a relic of a bygone era. Is there an avenue (DM, email, Zoom) where we could discuss the growth opportunities we're targeting? Thanks!

Request for startup: I'm both a founder & a very proud dad to 2 young kids (2/4). I am bullish on a completely new model of education for kids. If you're building the future of education, I'm a customer & potentially a teeny investor; I want to hear from you; reply with url 👇

“We deserve more than a hope and prayer that the child care sector will still be standing when our employers call us back to our places of work. Covid-19 has made clear that child care is a collective necessity.” nytimes.com/2020/05/20/opi…

We need Congress to #FundChildCare. Programs across the nation are facing devastating impacts on their businesses & need support and protection. And don’t forget about family childcare providers! We need to ensure their stability as a critical community resource. #ChildCareNow

@ashleybeckner Finding alternative solutions to how this country thinks about working parenthood and primary caregiving to address the “indirect costs” married women face is a huge part of our core mission @2birds. Great to see the attention on this!

@2birds @mustashton @andreasklinger @HiveAustin Definitely want to know more. I am assuming there's more parent members than child-free? Pricing seems similar to others sans Enterprise, but I didn't notice any of the generally desired other accomodations for those working in the photos. The nursing lounge is gorgeous btw.

Coworking (as we know it today) will split into two categories: - Scalable offices for small teams 🏢 - Third spaces for individuals / remote workers 🌿 The 2nd will often be a side-offering of hotels, coffee shops, gyms, etc There is also a $B opp for someone focusing on it…
@levelsio@levelsio

I've discovered the new secret free coworkings after public libraries: hotel lobbies - Usually have WiFi you can ask - Usually serve coffee or have a cafe any way - Usually staff don't care you're there - Often have tables/desks to sit at

@mustashton @andreasklinger @HiveAustin I said to plan for the space for it, and have child care operators run the childcare space. Not the coworking space be the ones to manage it. I think that is where the confusion happened. That allows for the public to use it so child free by choice folks don't have to subsidize
