I have learned Michigan. Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, the thumb. I practiced at night. I drew it on my palm in pen so I would not forget the lakes. It did not come off. I attended a meeting with Michigan on my hand. Last week I gave directions to a man from Grand Rapids, and he leaned in, and he said, "Whoa. Little high. You're in the water." I was in the water. I have been corrected four times by people who actually live there. I was right twice. I have tried this with Japan for one month. Japan is not a hand. Japan is not any part of the body. I have checked all of them. So I have started telling people I am from Michigan. I point at the thumb. Nobody has questioned it. The hand is enough.

@japan_nobunaga Same thing when my wife and I moved to a 55+ community in SWFL. We were housing my daughter's Chihuahua, BRONCO. We sent him home to SEMI after my daughter found a new residence. For 4+ years I remained BRONCO'S Dad. Now we adopted a rescue CHI. I am now GINGERS Dad. It's all OK.

I greet Kevin first each morning, because Kevin was here before me. I know no human names. Last week I discussed hip dysplasia with a man for fourteen minutes. He was serious. He knew things. At the end he shook my hand and nodded once. "Good talkin' to you, man." "And you." Neither of us used a name. Neither of us could. To ask, that late, would confess fourteen minutes of fraud. Then a man cupped his hands across the field. "MOCHI'S DAD!" I turned. "Yeah, you. Your guy's got a stick he can't carry." My family name is cut into stone. I answered to MOCHI'S DAD in under one second. The way a dog answers. I went and got the stick. There is a party in two weeks. Mochi is invited. I may attend as his escort. I asked whose house it is. "Kevin's." There was no follow up question. I am bringing a gift for Kevin. I have wrapped it.
