Having laser eye correction surgery soon. I have two options. They kind of don’t fully correct one eye so I can still read up close and my brain makes up the difference. Or they fix both so I see perfectly at distance and I need readers for up close. Which did y’all pick?

@maxdubler I live in a very red state and its a huge problem here as well. In fact, I joke around that NIMBYism is the only thing that the local dems and reps can agree upon. Is there evidence it is less of an issue in red states as it seems universal.

Big Oil and their mouthpiece, Fox News, would rather us burn fossil fuels until entire cities get wiped out than have us confront the climate crisis. They do not give a damn about people losing everything. That’s why we must mass organize like our lives depend on it. It does.

The prosecutor successfully removed 6 of 7 qualified black jurors with peremptory challenges, leaving a jury of 11 white people and a single black person. It's illegal to strike a potential juror because of race, but prosecutors get away with it. riverfronttimes.com/news/how-misso…

The prosecution's entire case was based on incentivized witness testimony from two people with pending criminal charges who were offered leniency and reward money. Their testimony didn't provide any new information, and was inconsistent with their own prior statements.

Marcellus Williams has been on death row for 23 years proclaiming his innocence for the murder of reporter Felicia Gayle in 1998. The crime scene had tons of forensic evidence: fingerprints, footprints, hair, and even DNA on the murder weapon. None of it matches Williams.

Marcellus Williams will be executed on Sept 24--despite plenty of evidence of his innocence, the prosecutor's confession of racial bias, and opposition from the victim's family--unless Governor Mike Parsons (@GovParsonMO) finds his conscience. /🧵

The fact that the USA is about to execute an innocent citizen - they know is innocent, the DA now says is innocent, the evidence proves he is innocent, should be enough for everyone to tear the system down. Marcellus Williams could be any of us. Marcellus Williams is all of us.
