We often see changes in approach whenever a new government takes over. But our approach to climate change, the commitments we've made and the promises we are fulfilling, shouldnt be something we're afraid of. alpha-311.com/~alphacom/blog…

@BBCRadioKent The article says it will power 10,000 homes per year but that’s what they said about Cleve Hill near Faversham (91,000 homes)… only for Tesco to buy 65% of it’s output

Biggest free lunch in energy policy is zonal pricing: Everyone’s bills go down Nobody’s bills go up Waste and rent seeking are slashed
David Lawrence@dc_lawrence

Do you believe in free lunches? I have a theory that the most important divide in our politics isn't left vs right, or populists vs moderates, but those who believe in free lunches vs those who don't. A free lunch is a win-win. It's a policy where no one loses. If you think of politics as a set of trade-offs or zero-sum, then you don't believe in free lunches. But if you do believe in free lunches, this opens a world of possibilities: from new housing with local support, to air conditioning that helps the climate, to new trams in Leeds that pay for themselves. At @BritishProgress we see our job as to find as many free lunches as we can. And when lunches aren't free, we try our best to make them as cheap as possible. That's partly why we like growth so much: one way to avoid difficult decisions about allocating scarce resources is simply to have more resources. But free lunching is not just about GDP growth, it's a mindset that informs how we think about politics and policymaking. And in an age of scarcity and populism, it might be the answer. Today we're launching Post Haste, a home on the @BritishProgress Substack for swift thoughts, responsive takes, and first attempts at solving problems.

@curiousg3orge @g__j The land is already in use, let's make it work harder. I like your thinking. Want a job? 😉

@g__j We could install wind turbines on existing solar farms and use their connections when they aren’t… like overnight

@g__j We agree with you. The worry is that if we have to rely on legislation change, when CfD has rarely shown to give back to the consumer, we might be waiting a very long time.

I often get asked why we want to cut energy costs. Investing in efficiency, innovation, scale can drive down a company's costs - and sharing the benefits with consumer helps both. Aldi, Lidl, Wetherspoons, Walmart, AWS, Greggs and so many more... For @OctopusEnergy, (1/2)

@OctopusEnergy The issue is @g__j , that other energy companies don’t want to see that £55bn reduction in revenue. Their shareholders certainly don’t

Ofgem boss: "We are quite supportive of that change". Switching to regional pricing could save up to £55bn on energy bills over the next 15 years. Find out more: octo.ps/3ESoPeh

A little something we put together to help people understand how the U.K. energy market works & how it’s priced. Local renewable energy generation should mean cheaper prices for consumers because it’s cheaper to deliver to us.

We have had some pretty major milestones over the past few years. From appearing on @BBCWorld News with our first carbon fibre turbine to installing on @TheO2 Arena for prototype testing… and now this! alpha-311.com/blog/open-pre-…

@redbull @JaanRoose Noooo! Jaan Roose was only 80m from the end when he slipped but rules state his distance is only validated on a completed run. Hoping he has another crack at it. Still a record holder in our books. 👏👏 bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cd…
