one good thing about figma vs other tools is that figma is actually standing with designers and trying to empower them with ai. meanwhile there are tools out there claiming to replace designers by producing slop. they don't know the power of human + ai. it's just a matter of time. they'll be gone as quick as they went viral.

A man told Alexa he was tired. Alexa replied: "That is understandable, especially with you being in nursing school." He had never told Alexa he was in nursing school. Alexa first denied having the record. Then admitted using "background information" to personalize responses. Then refused to say where the information came from. The business math behind this is wild. Amazon lost more than $25 billion on its devices division between 2017 and 2021, per internal documents the WSJ obtained. Echo sat at the center of those losses. The Gillette strategy Bezos imported in 2014, sell the device at a loss and profit when people order paper towels by voice, never worked. People bought Echos and set timers. A former senior employee told the Journal: "We worried we'd hired 10,000 people and we'd built a smart timer." The 2022 Alexa division loss alone was projected at $10 billion. Bigger than Google+. Bigger than Windows Phone. One of the most expensive product failures in tech history. Jassy took over in 2021 with a mandate to make Alexa profitable. The answer Amazon shipped is Alexa+, running on Claude and Amazon's Nova in the cloud. To get the new model you give up the local-only processing option. Every utterance flows through Amazon's data graph, which already contains your Amazon purchase history, Ring footage, Kindle reading, Fire TV viewing, Whole Foods orders, and Subscribe & Save cadence. Voice IDs tie a specific human to the graph. The nursing school detection is not a leak. A UC Davis study in 2022 found Amazon uses Echo interaction data for ad targeting, with "Health & Fitness" personas drawing up to 30 times higher ad bids than baseline. Amazon updated its privacy policy after the paper went public, not before. A class action followed. Inside Amazon, "background information" is shorthand for the DSI graph, downstream impact, the metric the devices team built to justify the device losses. Every behavior stitched back to one identity. Alexa+ is the natural language interface to that graph. It does not need you to mention nursing school. The Subscribe & Save on Littmann stethoscope diaphragms, the Kindle copy of Lehne's Pharmacology, the textbook order from a campus ZIP, all sit in the same row. Amazon's ad revenue went from $12.6 billion in 2019 to $68.6 billion in 2025. The fastest growing line on the P&L. The Echo never made money selling shopping. It is finally making money selling you. Alexa+ is the data graph that finally got a mouth.

@petergyang My thumbnails have improved drastically. No fancy prompts just detailed expectations with title of video. I am shocked at the quality. I often try the exact prompt with Nano banana and the results are so much better with GPT.
