The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment. Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law. Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems. Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.

Today, the FBI and NYPD disrupted a plot by a member of a pro-Israel terrorist organization to assassinate Nerdeen Kiswani. This is a reprehensible act of political violence. There is no place for it in our city nor our country. I am thankful Ms. Kiswani is safe and the assailant is under arrest.

Okay. So, I need all your good vibes. I don’t do prayer, but if you do, I could use those too. Right after I wrapped guest hosting Jimmy’s show, my husband called me. He opened with “I need you to not freak out” so, I immediatley freaked out. Turns out he had a mild heart attack at work. He’s in the hospital. They’ve admitted him and he will likely be there until at least Monday. They’re going to do a bunch more tests but, given that it’s the weekend, that will probably not happen until Monday. They’re just kicked me out (visiting hours were supposed to end at 8). He drove himself to the hospital at 3:30 but didn’t call me because he knew I was nervous to host Jimmy’s show and didn’t want to freak me out or cause me to cancel when he didn’t know how bad it was. I’m a nervous wreck.

He said: ‘you’re obviously very passionate’. (Thereby dismissing my complaint). I tried to tell him that he was perhaps not best judged to evaluate antisemitic content if his view was that this was not ‘Nazi imagery’ but ‘criticism of the Israeli state’ and could he possibly send someone who knew more about this stuff. ‘No police officer is an expert in racism’, he told me, oddly.
