How bad must the fraud be in California that they're passing a law to stop reporters from reporting on it?

A new report shows that the Los Angeles Fire Department has responded to more than 75,000 fires related to the homeless and homeless encampments since 2020. Firefighters are desperately sounding the alarm that the homeless are taking far too much of their resources that are already spread dangerously thin, but it’s tough to hear over Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass insisting that homelessness is down.

There are now over a dozen federal investigations and probes into fraud in California. The tens of billions already uncovered are just the tip of the iceberg. Newsom's response is focused on stopping fraud from being exposed rather than stopping the fraud itself.

So make this make sense. The @sdmts board voted this week to raise fare prices while “transit advocates” want you to believe that riding public transit is the best way to get around in San Diego and while they use seemingly every tool to try and force San Diegans out of their cars which isn’t working. I understand folks who do not want to ride public transit in this town. Public transit doesn’t reach the distance needed, doesn’t move fast enough, and now is getting more expensive for the common San Diegan. No thank you. 👎
