Howdy WA agriculture - I am pleased to advise that I have stepped out of 4Farmers GM role and into 4F R&D Agronomy. Am really looking forward to testing some great innovative ideas with the 4F team under the leadership of Dr Cam Beeck, ably assisted by Cathy McKenna.

Excellent Farren - with such closed systems that are so common now - it means exposure to chemicals (as farmers) is incredibly reduced. Indeed, with this approach, it means the old exposure research, like with #paraquat, needs to be totally re-evaluated 👍🤝👏
Farren Frischke@FFrischke

best way I’ve found to draw chem from shuttles, flush the hose , and have it empty ready for the next. Done it this way for a fair while now, but should have long time ago. Im sharing it coz I know a lot of farmers have some wild setups.Exposing themself to it. Any improvements ?

January 1978 (after 77) and May 2026. Farming practices have changed for the better largely because of glyphosate and Paraquat.

Now is when Aquifer is needed. Seeding into a drying soil profile with small rain events on the horizon. Aquifer will help draw up the deeper moisture and hold onto the small rain events giving you the best chance of getting a good germination. Email us at 4farmers.com.au

Update @APVMA Might be knock off time at your place bit we're still living the nightmare. Spent $100k baiting so far and we won't get to harvest this 400ha unless we reseed it. Might not rain for another fortnight so we've lost 6 weeks of growing season, damage immeasurable 😢

A few that dodged the mice. Then the rest of the paddock got plucked before they got going. Never mind, the good folk at @APVMA have been collecting a wage for months whilst deliberating the merits of ZP50.

Just the annual visual reminder on how important seed depth and placement is for pre emergent herbicides.

See what #Aquifer can do for crop emergence - with this dry spell u might want to order some - at 2 L/ha and under $6/L it makes great sense sales@4farmers.com.au

@hirschirsch @AmberB_C @Mistadamage @DPIRDbroadacre The “new climate” - i think we have all done that - we dry seed, we no-till, use herbicides, match N to how wet the season is. The ones that really hurts is when we have no opening rain & have stored water. Just when you think you have a new climate - it will change 😉

@4FarmersBill @AmberB_C @Mistadamage @DPIRDbroadacre I’m building my farming system around the new climate. Less autumn rain, fewer breaks, more frequent summer rain and warmer Septembers. It’s going well, although I would sooner the climate of 20th century One could argue that the ‘sceptics’ aren’t very sceptical at all.

@AmberB_C @Mistadamage @DPIRDbroadacre The old map was the best visualisation for explaining CC impact in wheatbelt. Glad there’s been an update! Perhaps explains why there’s so many CC sceptics in Esperance! 😜

Very sad to see - could well be $70M of WA crop now lost due to no 50mg/kg bait being available due to slow policy position by the @apvma on acknowledging the uselessness of the old25mg/kg bait - which we have registered.

@hirschirsch @APVMA Yes, if we don’t get winter rains to get the new (second emerging) crop up it could be a massive underestimate 🙁

@4FarmersBill @APVMA That figure of $70m could be quite conservative, especially if reseeded crops don’t germinated for a while.

@_foqyeah @APVMA Yes, it is safe, we need to respect regulators & laws, but they also need to be in touch with reality. @AustralianLabor have been out of touch also on this plague. APVMA have ignored & snubbed their noses at the excellent work by @CSIRO on this issue.

@4FarmersBill @APVMA Providing it’s not subsidised, you should be free to do what you want. Is it safe for the consumer bill?

@4Farmers_ Looks like mice damage - it’s hard to understand why the @APVMA have been so slow in realizing that we have an emergency - I sent them an email in Nov last year saying - record grain crop, hail storms and possible summer rains make for a plague on the way.
