I was at freshman orientation at the University of Vermont. Walking by the ROTC building, and not wanting my aunt and uncle to pay for all of my school, I decided to walk inside. It was summer, so only one person was there- a Green Beret Major that had a Masters in Philosophy from Harvard. We made a deal- I would try it for a couple of months and if I liked it they would pay for the rest of my school and refund my first semester. ROTC at a very liberal school was interesting- add that I was studying forestry and environmental sciences... I really had no other burning desire other than to just "try it out." Made the same decision with flight school- seemed cool to "try it out." And then the same with the 160th- "just try it out." For me, "the calling" grew over time and I found myself not only wanting to serve my country- but really wanting to serve the guys around me.

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Friday.

It’s all fun and games until PLA BB-8 rolls up on your trench
