Kam Patterson jokes about Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s breakup on SNL: “Who even is this guy? Wait a minute, there’s a WNBA for men? What would you even call that? The MNBA? To me, he’s not Klay, he’s dirt.”

MLB Saturday Pick No. 2 🍀 MLB Record: -5.08 U Reds vs Pirates at 4pm EST The Reds have the better record and the starting pitcher with the better ERA. Say it with me now "we do not care". I think the Pirates are the better team despite three fewer wins. They have a +20 RD compared to the Reds at -11, and in this matchup, they have advantages across the board. Rhett Lowder's 4.46 SIERA and 4.00 xERA tell a different story then his 3.18 ERA. It's not because of one huge weakness, he just doesn't excel at anything. His metrics accross the board are either average or below average. He's a back-of-the rotation starter that has had nice results in a small sample. The Pirates get into trouble against pitchers with high chase rates. They aren't the most disciplined lineup in the world, and when they start fishing, it gets ugly. Lowder's strikeout rate is just 17%, and he's below average in chase rate as well. This is a pitcher the Pirates match up well against. The Pirates are a top ten offense against righties at home per OPS and wRC+. They crushed Brady Singer yesterday who has a very similar mix to Lowder. Both are sinker, slider, four-seam reliant right-handers who pitch at similar velocities. The difference is Lowder relies on his changeup while Singer has a sweeper. I don't expect four runs and seven hits in 3.1 innings like yesterday, but I do see trouble in Lowders' future. I like Carmen Mlodzinski and I don't care who knows it. He's allowing a lot of hard-contact, which is certainly a problem, but he hedges some of that with an above average strikeout rate, walk rate, and groundball rate. He also stays away from barrels, 6% rate which is in the 60th percentile. The Reds offense is sneaky terrible in spots like these. On the road against righties this year, they have a 68 wRC+, that ranks 29th. Mlodzinski's 3.70 SIERA and 4.03 xERA are both lower than his actual 4.16 ERA. He's also excelled at PNC, pitching to a 2.45 ERA compared to a 4.16 ERA in his career, and this year, his ERA at home is 1.69. Behind him is a fully rested Pirates bullpen. Montgomery, Soto, and Santana are all fully ready to go. Just like yesterday, I don't see much damage happening on the Reds side. The Reds have some key arms rested, but I prefer the Pirates bullpen. Pittsburgh ranks 12th in FIP and the Reds rank 25th. They have a nearly identical ERA, but this Reds bullpen is due for regression, just like their team is. We get the superior offense, a pitcher with better underlying numbers, and the better bullpen. My model makes the Pirates -147, BallparkPal makes them -149. There is value on Pittsburgh to win again at home. The Pick: Pirates ML (-126) - Risk 0.75 U @BetMGM
