The Armoured Train 🧵 A review from genesis of the armoured train through to modern day application. These trains are normally adhoc wartime field expediants designed to force protect the railway LofC, rarely do they exisit in peacetime.

Yesterday we attended the naming ceremony of Class 93 93001 as 'Armed Forces Covenant' by its owners, Rail Operations Group at Locomotion at Shildon on the Railway 200th.

As a freight driver, I always make a point of looking back along my train. It’s not just about checking the wagons and brakes, it’s also about making sure everyone on the platform is safe as 2142ft of freight rolls through. 🤘
