Not at all. The lions reaction is the rudimentary (call it proto) concept of property. “This is mine”. Like I said, not the more advanced/complex way we view property. But the point is more about agency than property. A lion has agency and wants to do what it wants to do. This is a form of expressing ownership. The control of “property”. Your body is the property of you, the entity with agency. Someone may make a claim on your body (like was done with slaves) but doesn’t have true ownership. True ownership would mean there is no authority higher than you in order to control your property. In that sense even the slaver had to get permission from the slave in order for them to pick cotton. Granted the slaver would use psychological and physical threats which may be successful but it was still a negotiation (I use the term loosely) with the actual owner.

Let's make this easy. If there is a single viable option outside the Binary of Republican and Democrat. Let's hear it.

The lion does not have a written or even verbal articulated language, let alone norms. You confuse the reaction of a lion in your example with a similar human reaction ignoring the origins.

Not like we do. But they understand the basic premise. Try to take a gazelle leg from a lion. But they have agency, and as such own themselves. You cannot make an animal do what it doesn't want to do. You can try to trick it, train it, capture it, use force. Those may work, usually do, but ultimately they own the decisions. They own themselves.

It isn't contradictory. Animals also own themselves. Of inanimate objects it is clear that an owner can be one who possesses a thing and has its legitimate use. But ultimately a living thing has agency and therefor exerts it over itself - as the supreme owner. You can rent/lease your ownership or accept coercive and fraudulent means to subvert your ownership, but it can't be revoked because you own you, ultimately. Even slaves owned themselves. Some chose to die rather than subjugate their self-ownership. Others accepted the coercion as a means of longer life with the hope of again being able to reassert their self-ownership without penalty from others. But just because I say I own you and my neighbor agrees - and gives me money for a bill of sale that says it - is just fraud and coercion, not real ownership.

Sure you can. Where in the definitions does it state that? It isn't true for everything (a 2x4 doesn't own itself) but for living beings there is the question of ownership not just land or cars or whatever. Who gets to command you, use you, possess you? Who is your owner? Clearly, you are. Others may coerce you into an action but ultimately you are the one that decides. I'd say that pretty clearly makes you self-owned.

Libertarians derive the NAP from the axiomatic principle of self ownership. Either way I’d call it a clearly defined foundation for political ethics. Republicans and Democrats are hardly adopting a constitutional axiom for their political ethics - regardless of the “as they interpret it” qualifier. Either that or your qualifier is doing A LOT of heavy lifting.

If we’re going to have a conservative civil war, the dividing line should be those who believe in protecting and preserving marriage, the family, and unborn life vs those indifferent or opposed.
