As humanity develops new energy generation technologies like solar, nuclear and fusion, Bitcoin needs to continuously consume more energy over time to increase security. The only way to do that is to properly incentivize bitcoin miners to continue consuming energy to increase the cost of attack. To rely solely on Bitcoin's subsidy means we're relying on Bitcoin's market cap to continuously double per halving which is not mathematically rationale to expect. The pressure release valve is $NAT. As the world wakes up to this reality, the more value $NAT has. As the value increases, the more Bitcoin becomes secure. This 2nd subsidy will persist for as long as the Bitcoin network continues adding blocks. There is no end to $NAT, it scales as humanity scales on our way to Type 1 civilization.
