No, what's stupidity is Americans and Canadians thinking the world revolves around them and that everything should be catered to them.
The gold medal game has always been played in the early afternoon since it was first introduced in 1992 (Prior to that, hockey had a round robin).
Germans did not complain in 2018 having to get up at 5 AM to watch.
Finns didn't complain in 2022 having to get up at 6 AM to watch.
Sporting events are scheduled to best fit the local timezone and fans in attendance.
If people do not understand that, or aren't willing to accept that they aren't the centre of the universe, that's on them.
