I am a giant fan of FSD, but most of us know it has a large flaw: navigation. Yes I know that is based off Google maps, but some weird things still happen. -There is a T intersection I use, It is about 5 months old. At first FSD didn't know it was there, fine. Quickly it learned the intersection, great! Now, for about 2 months, It doesn't know the intersection is there. And If I am at it, it won't use certain parts of it. So I have to manually drive or go the long way around. -There is a small road I use when I am Hot Wheel hunting. It has been there about 10 years. Just recently, FSD forgot the small road and wants me to zig zag through a parking long. So I have to manually drive to onto the small road and then I can use FSD. -There are a few sections where I have to kind of get into a different lane to go straight (I have posted this one before). These have been around a long time as well. FSD wants to stay in the lane I started in, which turns into a right only. 50/50 chance it will follow the leader if someone is front of me. 75% change I can just use my turn signal to get into the correct lane. So I have to babysit the system, hope it works, and there is a slight chance I have to drive manually. -Side note: There are also a few sections where the system likes to go 10mph over just because it can or the rest of the humans like to (I have posted about this before as well). These are also frequent speed trap locations. Luckily I still have Scroll Wheel power. PS- I use Standard. These (and a couple other issues that some people have) are the big reasons I cannot say FSD is solved. Exceedingly capable, but not 100% solved. It is being held back. I really hope Tesla is working on the mapping. Another side note: I might be using HW3, but my husband has these same issues with his HW4. These issues are bigger than the hardware differences.

You're looking at it too closely. I'm fairly confident that the HW3 situation will be taken care of but obviously, the lack of communication and delays are highly unsettling. Tesla did the same thing with the MCU1 computers that was leaving people stranded left and right. They took waayyy too long to recognize the problem and also way too long to propose a solution. I guess, the more they wait the less cars they have to take care of witch is a shitty way to look at it. I ended up paying for a MC2 upgrade to get peace of mind when a free upgrade was offered 1 year later. Of course it suck but I'm not a cry baby. Now back to FSD itself, with Tesla and Elon in general you have to look at the big picture. In 2025 nothing else comes close to the whole FSD system (obviously v14.x). Label it Level 2 if you want, people who use it know that it is far more than that. So yes, that tweet was almost 10 years ago, we've had various versions of Summon and ASS since but not the coast to coast version mentioned here. Frustrating yes, for some, but I don't really care myself because what WAS delivered so far is still market leading material today. When your dreams and ambitions are big enough so that you need to invent several technologies to get there, delays may occur. Since you don't understand that, stick with brands with no ambition. FSD V14.1.7 | Near Accident This is without a doubt the closest I have come to getting into an accident in a long time. I think had I not taken over and slammed on the brakes we would not have slowed down in time. You can see that FSD does an incredible job reacting to the car (even before I noticed it) and was slowing down, but it was not slowing down enough to stop in time. As soon as I saw the car swerving to the right I worried she was going to bounce back into my lane so that is when I decided to go full on the brakes to stop the car. You can see prior to me taking over we were full regen braking (which is FSD reacting well) but it wasn't using any real brakes at all, and ABS was not active until I took over. Let me know what you all think in the comments. I still think FSD is incredible - the reality is if you watch the video the car saw and reacted to the situation before I did, it just didn't brake as agressively as it needed to in this situation. FSD + an attentive driver is without a doubt in my mind still safer than a normal human driver who is not using FSD.
