i INCREASED my REVENUE +37% …
by DELETING most of my ONBOARDING
how? i thought long onboarding was one of the most important factors to sell an app 🤨
my partner had the bright idea to ask Claude to analyze our onboarding, and make its own experimental version that we can run as an A/B test (feature flags)
Claude’s proposal? *cut everything*
all the personal questions, even the “aha moment” product demo
we just trusted it
said “let’s see if AI is smarter than us.”
we let Claude totally slice and dice our masterpiece
most of what it did was cringe
stuff we would all assume is retarded
but we gave it a shot. it worked. results:
- onboarding completion: 79% -> 88%
- paywall conversion: 6.4% -> 7.8%
^ People completed onboarding more (ofc), AND purchased more (WTF)
in exact numbers, our install-to-paywall conversion went:
5% -> 6.9% (up by 37%)
…from deleting most of our onboarding
moral of the story:
don’t just copy some other app’s approach. even if they’re successful and in your niche, your app has its own DNA. only you can dicover what works best for it. don’t just throw a bunch of “best practices” at it and think you’re done

imo this stuff is a trap, usually symptom of a founder who became too *views* obsessed
i say it’s a trap because you can never turn this into a paid ad
i would rather a founder make a hundred product-focused vids than a hundred of these
because in product-focused content, you’re gaining the skill of SELLING your product
in views-focused content, you’re literally gaining the skill of HIDING your product
which would you rather become a master at?

Day 4, 5 building & marketing a new app 💪
- Just shipped a small but exciting update, turned the AI-generated prototype into a real feature inside the app.
- User can now create workouts and instantly visualize which muscle groups you're targeting.
- Feels good seeing things go from idea → prototype → actual product.
- Started warming up + post 2 TikTok accounts luckily neither of them got shadow banned. 🤟

building your own game engine is definitely not easy.

tuning and fixing all errors and codes (there is so so much that need to be keeping in mind)😭
