Dark Outlaw Games was announced to be a new first party PlayStation Studio in March 2025 led by industry vet Jason Bundell. Just 1 year later they are closing. But it is worth noting this studio was formed after the failed partnership with Deviation Games. Seems like they just couldn't get it together sadly.

It definitely would be very difficult. I will say though, Code UV is aiming to go for 60FPS from the beginning… so, development of this game is going to be a bit different from the start. Setting our priorities and goals now will make a massive difference in the way we develop and how the final game performs. Right now we are also looking at using the software side of Lumen this time around instead of the Hardware based form; it was amazing for CV but it did use a lot of render time to do… we will see… but the goal is 60 for this next game, hopefully we can achieve this goal 😇

As far as what I can talk about, we have already moved to the next version of the engine, UE5.7, CV was made on 5.5 and then moved to 5.6 and there are a massive amount of improvements in 5.7 vs 5.6. Code Ultraviolet is going to take place in an open world map that connects all the majors parts of the game together so, things like the new Nanite voxel foliage will be used. Right now, we are getting all the fundamentals in place; Violet will be more mobile and gameplay will be more aggressive, more enemies, more enemies types, returning similar weapons and new ones 😇 We are testing and experimenting with a lot of different things, one being vehicle driving for the change to the open world style map. We are hoping to have something to show by this summer if all goes smoothly 😎 This new installment is going to be massive and more intense 😎 In the meantime, anyone who has things they’d like to see or feedback for this next game, let us know 😇 we take everything into consideration 🤩
