In 1988, California, Ellie Nesler’s 6-year-old son was molested by 35-year-old Daniel Driver while attending Christian camp. Driver, who’d been accused of sexually abusing multiple children, was arrested and the case sent to a preliminary hearing 5 years later in 1993. During the hearing, Ellie walked right up to Driver, pulled out a pistol and shot him five times in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. “I may not be God,” she said “but I’m the closest damn thing to it” Ellie was sentenced to 10 years, but released after serving 3 years after striking a plea deal. We had take home cars, and didn't go to roll call like AM/PM. 10-8 from the house, calls stacked up like crazy. All you can do is knock em out, one by one. For 12+ hours. It burns you out.

As someone who spent a career responding to 911 calls in 3 states here’s a hard truth. In a typical major US city police dispatch rate calls priority 1-5, 1 the worst. You shift change, get your car & log into your computer to see a dozen + P3 - P5 calls pending in your district. Now you’re like Amazon, call to call to call. But in the busiest districts especially during high crime times it’s those P1 – P2 calls, the shooting, the stabbing, the woman trapped in a bathroom, her ex-husband inside her house with a gun. On a busy shift, you will go P1-2 call, to call, to call & never even see those P 3–4 calls on your computer; like the one from a mother trying to tell you her son just stole a gun & her vehicle. She’s worried he might commit a mass shooting. This was urban policing in 2014. Now it’s way way worse.

SOURCE: The San Diego Police Department Northern Division is where the Islamic Center shooting happened and they were 7 officers understaffed today for morning watch. The mother of one of the shooters called PD at 9am to report her son stole her car and the father’s guns and left a note about “shooting up a place.” The CALL HELD for 2 HOURS before an officer went to handle it. The active shooter came out while the unit was speaking with the mom. This whole thing could have been stopped if we had adequate staffing. The City of San Diego has failed us by supporting Defund the Police and not having a balanced budget.

Notably, if you live in Ohio, Kentucky, or Texas. H.R. 8037 would limit the effect of litigation on the environmental permitting process for data centers and supporting infrastructure, facilitating faster development of AI/HPC/Bitcoin facilities by reducing delays from lawsuits challenging environmental reviews. It is a free pass for data centers developers and technophiles to destroy our health, water, and land with no net benefit to the people. Massie and other Republicans objections, got the bill tabled.
