I almost feel sorry for the people desperately praying for The Odyssey to flop. The internet trashed Christopher Nolan's casting choices before. They mocked Heath Ledger as the Joker. They questioned Tom Hardy as Bane because of the mask. They laughed at casting relatively unknown actors in Dunkirk. Every single time, Nolan proved them wrong. Now they're convinced The Odyssey will fail over casting. History isn't on your side. Hate all you want, The Odyssey is on its way to sweeping the box office and making its critics look foolish yet again.

Who are you to judge people's outrage as legitimate or not? Greeks suffered 400 years of occupation and slavery at the hands of the Turks. Greeks taught their language and stories in secret, in caves, at risk of death. One hundred years ago, my father's parents survived the genocide.
Fifty years ago, the Turks invaded, raped, murdered and destroyed in Northern Cyprus, again attempting to erase the culture as they did in Anatolia. If you can't understand why, with that history, Greeks are protective of their culture, and just asking for some respect, then it's you who need a look in the mirror.

As for the word "slave," changing the word changes the meaning of The Odyssey. Homer was a slave probably captured in war. To remove slave from The Odyssey is to erase the author.
