@waronweakness Really the only reason for me to travel is for races/sports and seeing the ocean

@travelhacked These cards are getting dumb, just get a good airline card and call it good. The centurion lounge is too packed anyway

AMEX PLATINUM IS LOSING MORE PERKS
More changes are coming to the Amex Platinum, and some of the long-time benefits are getting cut.
What is changing
- Effective 5/7, Uber VIP is gone.
- Replaced with Signature Support for Amex, which is basically 24/7 phone access to customer service
- Effective 6/10, Events with Amex is being removed
- Effective 6/30, the Saks credit is ending
- A new replacement credit will be announced later
- Effective 7/8, Centurion Lounge guest rules get tighter
- Guests must be on the same flight as the cardholder
- On layovers, card members must arrive within 5 hours of the connecting flight
- Same day round trips do NOT count as connecting flights
TLDR:
- Use your Saks credit before it disappears
- Expect Amex to replace old perks with more restrictive or less useful ones
Amex keeps changing the Platinum... thoughts?

@mikeddonatelli I want to qualify for OCC so bad. It looks like such an emotional experience

You don’t run an ultra because it’s good for your body
You run an ultra because you want a wild experience that gives incredible stories you can share with your friends around a campfire or while tucking your kids into bed
Would not recommend for peak health
Would recommend for peak LIFE
LUIS@luisomor
I still don't understand why people keep running ultra marathons They destroy your joints and consume all your muscles. The long-term effects are simply horrible for your health If you want to maximize health, have elite cardio, maintain muscle mass and boost your hormones, there's nothing better than sprinting and the science backs it up

I was on the Norwegian method in high school for cross country skiing. Rose to the college level without ever being over trained or injured. Highly restricted and monitored threshold training. I loved it. College ski coach about ruined me though. Very different methods. At 33 I’m reading the book again, want to bring back the methods into my training.

Finished The Norwegian Method by Marius Bakken & loved it. If you read his website, take that information and multiple it x1000.
Here are my personal takeaways ➡️
- I think there are some programs that do their general training runs at a pace that's probably at the lower end of threshold pace
- don't clutter or overcomplicate your easy/recovery days with "stuff"
- on easy runs...I think with the density of workouts in the Norwegian method (T-Th-S) the easy runs must be easy / if your workouts are spaced further apart, you could get away with faster endurance runs, but why?
- intensity control...INTENSITY CONTROL📢
- IMO, it would be hard to implement double threshold in a large group setting without blowing some people up
- there is still an element of race pace or faster training that needs to be done, but FAR LESS than we think
- he also talks about a 45/15 workout that is a version of the Billat 30/30 workout. These are the kinds of workouts Mihali Igloi was doing 50 years ago.
All that being said, I still REALLY LIKE Dr. Jeff Messer's concept of "Distributed Threshold" training for HS runners.

A brief check-in!
Training for Ironman Jacksonville is going well.
12-15 hours per week of consistent swim/bike/run volume.
It will be more of a nutritional battle vs. “top speed” by the time it’s time to run in 85-90°F heat.
Sauna prep 3x weekly has begun.
I sold my car to buy a bike (worth it).
Two more blocks left until it’s time to race.
If you read this far, I’d love a reply back below with an update of what’s new with you and your goals.
It’ll give me something to look forward to the next time I decide to “unbrick” my phone.
Until then 🫡

@TylerPurcell24 My dad is a dealer for master craft and the sick part of it is is that they really haven’t changed the boats that much to reflect these stupid prices. No attempt to really make it luxury enough to justify it
English

@tim_roozendaal Good to know! I’ll be sticking with these for easy training. Have the Vomero plus’s too if I want to change it up.

@907runna Great to hear. It's so much better than the cloudmonster hyper 3

Superblast 3 test run 🔥
Much more comfortable than the V2 for me. V2 always felt a little stiff to me. This feels responsive and cushioned in the forefoot.
Much more stable than I anticipated, so the structure is still there.
No problems with the upper fit either.
Great shoe, will be on my radar for real testing 📡

@alexeixbt I was thinking two months in Spain but this works. The sound is enough to get any man back on his feet :)
