According to Rich Ryan, elite 15 Hyrox athlete, athletes should accumulate high volumes of work at «anaerobic threshold» or Zone 4. My question: where does zone 4 begin and end? Most people’s LT2 is NOT in zone 4 but rather zone 3 or around 80-85% of HRmax. Know YOUR zones.

Your regular reminder: VO2max is not a measure of *metabolic* fitness. I have tested many athletes with very good VO2max numbers & absolutely horrible fat-burning. For long-term health & performance, you need both.
