Do you take tea breaks with your colleagues? A Nobel Prize laureate who really enjoyed his afternoon tea was physicist J.J. Thomson. Thomson established a daily tea time welcoming all research students for a tea break at University of Cambridge.

It was so wonderful to have @Ishwariya13 speak about molecular pathways for regeneration in mammals. Loved each second of the presentation - superman bits and lab videos! Thank you for such an amazing and fun #scicomm session at @mssrf

Thanks to @95Shriya for this candid pic after my talk at MSSRF. A kid told me something I’ll never forget- “After your talk, I feel confident you’ll cure paralysis”. The fact that they got what I do AND have this innocent faith (even if impossible) made me so warm from within🥹

Curious about how India is shaping a sustainable future? The answers lie in the policies that define our future and the research that transforms ideas into action. MSSRF’s 2025 publications peel back the layers—revealing how decisions made in boardrooms ripple through farms, forests, and communities that put food on our tables and safeguard ecosystem services. Gender, climate resilience, and sustainable development are the key themes that emerged from stories produced by the 2024-2025 batch of Mina Swaminathan Media Fellows. Our 3 fellows are storytellers, journalists and media practitioners from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha. Today at the concluding event of Mina Swaminathan Media Fellowship 2024-2025, hosted at MSSRF in Chennai, the fellows showcased impactful written and visual stories from the ground, shaped by the theme of this year’s fellowship ‘The power of collective: women coming together for change.’ These stories offered an in-depth, nuanced understanding of grassroots resilience from a gendered lens. These presentations also provided our reviewers, MSSRF staff, and our audience with insight into the process that guided their storytelling. 🟢 @ArathiMR1 (Kerala) – Fisherwomen adopting green technology and community-led river monitoring. 🟢 @AksharaSanal (Tamil Nadu) – Women in coastal regions building small enterprises and embracing solar dryers. 🟢 @aiswaryaparija1 (Odisha) – Tribal women leading climate-resilient farming and reviving indigenous crops. With addresses by @doctorsoumya ,Chairperson, MSSRF; @richiemaha , Managing Editor, Down To Earth; @AparnaKarthi , Writer & Independent Journalist; and @santakar Independent Journalist for their thoughtful addresses that enriched the discussion and highlighted the importance of amplifying grassroots voices. India is #2 in the world in retractions since 2021. Startling data shared at @SciJournIndia and a head scratcher. It's a complex issue of failure of our education system, future of trust in science and a huge roadblock to building scientific tempermant. #SJAI2025

Climate change is here & this means that climate politics can no longer focus only on preventing future catastrophes. It must now also encompass struggles over how society manages climate impacts already reshaping economic and social life. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
