you’ve tried everything to increase your free test levels (the active form for muscle building, libido and bone density) and the numbers aren’t budging, you can feel it. the plateau is still there and that PR is the same as it was months ago. the thing that reduces free test is something called SHBG. it binds to testosterone which means it can’t give you those signals associated with testosterone like muscle growth. now, many studies have associated higher SHBG levels (more bound testosterone that won’t help you) to markers of an imbalanced microbiome an imbalanced microbiome leads to something called leaky gut which means endotoxins from your gut can now enter the bloodstream once those endotoxins are in the bloodstream, there’s inflammation all around the body, including the liver. the liver makes more SHBG bringing free test levels down.
