Ben McCollum is a different cat than most coaches. He was born in Iowa City and has been in the Midwest his entire coaching career. I'm not sure he would have left Drake for awhile if Iowa didn't open up.

Decent players are making 6 figures. Good for them, they deserve to get a piece of the pie. That said, we don’t have to pretend anymore that it’s unfair to expect them sit out when transferring. Unlimited movement is bad for the sport.

NEWS: South Dakota State sophomore Jaden Jackson is entering the transfer portal, he told @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot guard out of Bellevue, Nebraska played the last two seasons for the Jackrabbits, starting all 32 games this season. He averaged 12.3PPG, 4.2RPG, 2.5APG and 1.5SPG in 2025-26.

@AAA55422 @jj_mahaney @AshleighCrash21 @beardedhawkeye I got my JD from Drake. I felt bad when Iowa hired him. But based on interviews with his wife about Iowa being his dream job, his being born in IC, going to Tom Davis BB camp I don’t see him leaving.

Obviously I don’t know anything but Coach McCollum doesn’t seem like the job hopping type. He was at NW Missouri St for 15 years - had to have opportunities to leave but waited. IMO, he only left Drake after a year because his dream job opened up. He’s an Iowa guy.
