🚨68-year-old Florida Republican who spent decades as a pastor and years portraying Santa Claus at community events has been arrested for allegedly attempting to pay $200 to s*xually abuse a 13-year-old girl — who turned out to be an undercover detective. Thomas Allen Hicks of Lakeland, Florida, was among 19 suspects arrested during “Operation Child Protector VIII,” a multi-day sting led by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office targeting child predators. Hicks allegedly found an ad on a known prostitution website posted by an undercover deputy posing as a father offering his teenage daughter for sex. Even after being explicitly told the girl was 13, Hicks confirmed he was still interested and offered $200 for an hour. In his own words, Hicks said: “I grew up to become a Pastor, just like my dad. I have pastored churches in Pensacola, Florida, Lexington, North Carolina, and now in Lakeland, Florida.” He had been a preacher for 40 years. He was also well-known throughout Central Florida as a for-hire Santa, performing at the Lakeland Christmas Parade and children’s holiday photo shoots for nearly a decade. Voter records obtained by Reich-Wing Watch confirm he is a registered Republican. “Thousands and thousands and thousands of children have sat on this guy’s lap thinking he was Santa Claus when, in fact, he was a child sex predator,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. Judd noted that Hicks showed “zero remorse when he was arrested; the only thing he was concerned about was his reputation as Santa Claus.” He now faces charges of human trafficking, traveling to meet a minor, use of a computer to seduce a child, and use of a two-way communication device to commit a felony.
