Addis Ababa Traffic Managment Authority retweetledi

In 2024, Ethiopia became the first country in the continent to ban the importation of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. A move that shocked everyone. All this to reduce the burden external dependency.
In 2025, Ethiopia acquired 100,000 units of electric vehicles that transport 90,000 passengers within Addis Ababa everyday. 140,000 EVs in 2026.
With Ethiopia now assembling her own electric vehicles and with over 400 charging stations, they hope they can achieve the 500,000 EVs by 2030 thanks to Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
