@RepGraceMeng As someone who does not get food stamps and as someone who has gotten them in the past... I think SNAP should be beans, rice, fruit, and veggies. The idea is so keep someone alive for long enough to get a job.

Why stop at rotisserie chicken? Everyone should be able to buy a hot meal, with or without a Costco membership (or even liking chicken). That’s why my Hot Foods Act lets SNAP cover ALL hot, prepared foods!
U.S. Senator John Fetterman@SenFettermanPA

Feed our busy and hardworking families with real food. Costco’s hot rotisserie — $4.99. We introduced a bipartisan bill to make our SNAP families’ lives a little more affordable + convenient in America. 🇺🇸 fetterman.senate.gov/fetterman-coll…

@RepGraceMeng There's the game, folks. "What about Rotisserie Chickens? Can we get that? Pretty please? Just one little carve out?" It's been 24 hours and they're looking to wildly expand the carve out.

Detention facilities are unsafe, inappropriate, and inadequate. Too few receive medical care and too many die in ICE detention. I joined @RepRashida and @RepChuyGarcia in the introduction of the Ban Warehouse Detention Act to prohibit DHS from using any warehouse for the purpose of detaining people. We must meet the moment and reject detention in all its forms.

@RandyWKirk1 property taxes are bullshit too. Especially when the government determines the value & tax. There's already capital gains that's paid when assets are liquidated. If you have to pay tax to hold asset (especially intangible) do you really own it? What if it loses value ? Refund?

Contrarian position on Billionaires tax. I'm not in favor of CA taking one more dollar in taxes, but I'm also not sure why this tax is seen as unfair. We have property taxes on both homes and cars. There used to be an inventory tax on goods held by businesses each year. So, why would stocks, jewelry, paintings, etc. be any different. The argument that these individuals would have to liquidate assets to pay the tax is no different at all than my needing to liquidate assets to pay property taxes. What am I missing?

Nothing infuriates an uninformed Congressional Dem more than when they realize they voluntarily triggered a debate with someone who actually knows what they are talking about, reads federal statute and adheres to Supreme Court precedent. Today’s self-implosion by @rosadelauro was quite remarkable to witness. Without apology or regret, I will always adhere to the best available reading of federal statute pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright.

@FowltronAK @TRHLofficial What is it then? What happens if it thinks you're drunk? What happens when they add other "features?" What happens if it malfunctions? Even if it's not specifically a "kill switch," it's a massive overreach and completely unnecessary

@TRHLofficial It's the same thing with gas cans. A handful of people die every year being stupid with gas cans so they made them impossible to use. Because people die in DUI crashes, they are going to make everyone's car impossible to use. Something about liberty and safety.

Breaking: The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against anti-ICE protesters, issuing another block against a judge's order prohibiting federal officers from deploying crowd control munitions on protesters at the Portland ICE facility. The three-panel decision, issued by judges Kenneth Lee, Eric Tung, "and Ana de Alba (dissent), reads as follows: "The First Amendment does not protect vandalism, criminal trespass, or obstruction of law enforcement. Such unlawful acts, however, have been commonplace around the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) building in Portland over the past year." Numerous provocateurs—many wielding bats, shields, and strobe lights that disrupt vision—have hurled bricks, smashed security cameras, and blocked the driveway to prevent ICE cars from entering or exiting the building. In response, the government has used tear gas, pepper balls, and other non-lethal munitions to disperse the crowd." "Five plaintiffs sued the government, alleging that they are peaceful protesters who have been injured as a result of the crowd-control tactics. But they do not contend that they are collateral casualties caught in the crossfire—they claim that the government specifically targeted them in retaliation for exercising their First Amendment rights." "The plaintiffs have not shown that the agents had the subjective intent to retaliate or that the government has an unwritten policy targeting them. Much of the evidence shows the government trying to clear the entrance to the ICE facility in the face of unrest and an unruly crowd. And while some individual incidents might indicate an arguably disproportionate use of force, they alone do not amount to an unwritten policy of retaliation."

1.5 million Californians just signed a petition to tax the state's 200 billionaires 5%.. one time.. to fund hospitals, schools and food programs.. they needed 875,000 signatures.. they got nearly double.. and California's own governor is fighting against it.. the billionaires live in the same state where hospitals are closing and people can't afford groceries.. and the one person who's supposed to represent the people just told the New York Times he's fighting to protect them.. 1.5 million signatures and it still might not matter.. because the people who write the checks aren't the ones who sign the petitions
Pop Base@PopBase

A petition for the California billionaire tax, which would implement a one-time 5% tax on the state's 200 billionaires to fund healthcare programs, has received 1.5 million signatures — which could help it qualify for the November ballot. Gavin Newsom shared that he was fighting against this amendment in a previous interview with The New York Times.

If the California billionaire wealth tax passes, this will be nationwide policy for 2028. Every Democrat on the primary stage will raise their hand to support this federally. Tech guys think they can just run to Texas now. The path ahead is: Nationalism vs Communism.
Geiger Capital@Geiger_Capital

California's unrealized wealth tax has officially qualified and will be on the ballot… If it passes, anyone with a net worth of $1B+ will have to give 5% of their assets to the state. Soon there will be no one left to take from. Just corrupt politicians and illegal immigrants.
