This is a big moment for the UK economy with a far larger state sector. Gradual reduction in the footprint of the UK state post GFC, and projected under last Conservative govt - was criticised as hollowing out public service capacity/capability. If DoGE achieves $2tn of savings without damaging outcomes (a very big if) then debate on scope/ depth of public services changes at next UK election.

I will cheer loudly if Trump wins & Elon Musk/Ron Paul smash the federal budget by 80% and do away with income tax! They will send out a message that will shame UK and Europe. We should never have allowed our economies to fester like this! It will be a painful transition!

@AB6174 It works because if you have a Flexi-ISA you can replenish what you withdraw in the current tax year. So if you deposit £20k on the last day of the tax year, then the first day of the tax year withdraw it again, you can replenish £20k plus you get your new £20k allowance.

2/2. Private companies should have competition. Water is a monopoly in which households are forced to pay the highest bills in the G20. Raise pollution fines to such a level, you force their business model to fail. Then take it back into government control & fix the network.
