Whenever a restaurant bills itself as “Mediterranean” I scrutinize the menu until I figure out what they *really* are and which bloody 20th-cent. conflagration they were part of. Where’s this food *really* from?

@JAT74L @British_Airways BA will lose many customers over this. I will be one of them. Considering other One World options. Luckily, I am not up for renewal until the end of March 2026.

11 years as a @British_Airways gold card holder using my own hard earned cash and once I’ve burned the half million Avios I have left, I’ll never set foot on one of your aircraft again.

@PaulMyersBBC @HydeAdrianC @British_Airways Depends on where your home airport is & what routes you mainly fly. You have SkyTeam and Star Alliance as alt. to One World. You can Google & see which airlines belong to each. Apparently, some airlines will match your BA status if you join their club & request it matched.

Cannot believe @British_Airways what have you done?! This ridiculous move to revenue based loyalty will destroy the Executive Club. I’m a first year GGL after 15 years gold, and I will be status matching and moving on. You’re focussing on the wrong goals.

Hey @British_Airways, I’ve been a loyal member for many years. I’ve actually made the switch specifically to BA, from an another alliance, because I enjoy your customer service and the EC plans. But this new plans you’ve have just announced, is effectively making me switch to another airline. 2025 will be last year owning a BAPP card and also flying to ensure I keep on my gold status. I really see no point of it, when competing airlines are more attractive now.

@mashable One thing I’ve learned from all these leaks is that nothing is done by “accident”. Everything serves one purpose: more sales.

Amazon jumped the gun, leaking the new Mac mini’s specs and a sneak peek of its design just before Apple’s official announcement. 👀 The new Mac mini was spotted in a comparison chart (now removed) on Amazon's site. 🔗: mashable.com/article/amazon…

Beyond the headlines and funding announcements, there are real stories of perseverance and impact. Entrepreneurs working late nights, teams overcoming hurdles, and communities benefiting from innovative solutions. These narratives often get lost in the shuffle, but they're the heartbeat of our progress. I encourage us all to take a moment to appreciate and share these stories—they're what make our journey meaningful.

Lately, I've been reflecting on the incredible momentum building within Africa's startup scene. It's not just about the impressive funding numbers—though raising between $500 million to $1 billion in six months is no small feat—but about the sheer creativity and resilience of entrepreneurs across the continent. What's truly inspiring is how these innovators are tackling local challenges with solutions that have global relevance. They're not waiting for change; they're driving it. And that, to me, signals that we're on the cusp of something extraordinary.

One thing that's become clear is the power of collaboration in our ecosystem. Startups, investors, governments, and communities are coming together like never before. This synergy is breaking down barriers and creating opportunities that didn't exist a few years ago. It's a reminder that when we pool our resources and expertise, we can achieve remarkable things. Here's to more partnerships and collective efforts that push us all forward.

💡 We need dreamers who know how to build, and builders who know how to dream. Let’s give a shoutout to the doers — the ones pushing past challenges, finding creative solutions, and proving that you don’t need a million-dollar budget to make a million-dollar impact.

Local Solutions, Global Impact We often think of scalability in terms of expanding internationally, but what if Africa’s startups start thinking differently? Solutions born out of local challenges — like mobile money or off-grid energy — are highly applicable to other emerging markets globally. The continent’s innovators are uniquely positioned to export solutions to Latin America, Southeast Asia, and beyond, based on the realities they’ve mastered at home. Can Africa become the hub for emerging market solutions worldwide? How do we shift the narrative from import to export?
