Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist. I hate quinolones, C. diff, BLLE cellulitis, and PNA vs CHF not necessarily in that order.

@mmPharmD @DrDrayMBA @emilylheil A physician who once referred to me as “antibiotic troll” in a progress note called me “Captain Antibiotics” the other day. I’m sure it was sarcasm but I like to think it’s progress.

For today's grand finale, we drew inspiration from Dikembe Mutombo for some new #antimicrobialstewardship strategies.

Why don’t any of the ID related BCPS CE courses offer dual BCIDP credit?
Why can’t we get a full 1yr recert bundle for BCIDP like the other specialties? @SIDPharm @ASHPOfficial @BPSweb #letsfigurethisout

@ABsteward @hospitalismos @jackiecusumano Had have a few polymicrobial bacteremias with an ESBL organism and Enterococcus. Have all been negative for endocarditis but have often wondered if mero+amp would serve the same purpose as amp+ctx (team ctx don’t @me) if needed!

In study by @weskufel et al, potential serotonin syndrome among 1,743 hospitalized patients receiving linezolid with other serotonergic agents was exceedingly rare (0.11%), even among those who received multiple and more potent serotonergic agents. @IDWeek2022

About one-third of hospitalized patients treated for UTIs have ASB, which is when bacteria are in the urine but do not present symptoms or cause infection. Up to 80% of patients who have ASB are treated with antibiotics that they don't need #IDWeek2022 idsociety.org/news--publicat…

@BienvenidaAna @Doctor_Kroll Nice! Is anyone doing auto-verify for preop or pacu order sets? Not abx but the other standard meds.
English

Nice to finally see it in print! Selective auto-verification in the ED ⬇️ order verification volume ~ 41% without compromising patient safety. This time saved can be used by EM pharmacists to participate in higher yield activities (codes, resuscitations etc) #TwitteRx

At Kaiser Permanente we have removed all warnings not to use cephalosporins in the setting of a penicillin "allergy", including the very rare history of penicillin-associated anaphylaxis.
