Congratulations to the last in our lineup of 2024 Legends of Agronomy - Jim Beaty! Jim followed Ozzie Luetkemeier as Superintendent of ACRE for 35 years, shepherding the farm through many decades of progress and innovation.

It's hard to keep track of everything Vic Lechtenberg did during his time at Purdue; probably easier to say what he didn't do - it's a short list! We're pleased to add a line to the long list by naming Vic a Legend of Agronomy, and look forward to his keynote speech at ACRE 75!

At her retirement party, a banner hung behind Connie Foster stating "The Legend Has Retired", and here she is today, a true, veritable Legend of Agronomy. Connie dedicated 36 years to the Department of Agronomy, and we are so pleased to honor her at ACRE 75!

We are very proud to count today's Legend of Agronomy among our numbers. Gebisa Ejeta is world renown for his research on sorghum, and is the recipient of multiple prestigious awards - most recently the Order of the Griffin, and the National Medal of Science.

We continue highlighting this year's Legends of Agronomy today with Terry Lemming. Terry, who passed in 2019, was instrumental to the success of sorghum research at ACRE. We look forward to celebrating his legacy with his family at ACRE 75!

Our next Legend of Agronomy is Jim Vorst - Professor of Agronomy for 40 years from 1969-2009. Jim sadly passed in 2021, but we will be celebrating him along with his family and friends at ACRE 75.
