“Stem canker can cause premature death of soybean in large areas of the field...The greatest impact on yield occurs when plants are infected early during the vegetative stages, and favorable weather conditions persist until later reproductive growth stages...” From the revised publication An Overview of Stem Canker at cropprotectionnetwork.org/publications/a… by @cropdoc08 @cropdisease @MartinChilvers1 @NCLegumeLady @DylanMangel @febina_m @dsmuelle @maddishires @badgercropdoc @AlbertTenuta @baldpathologist @MandyBish1 @MahDuffeck @travisfaske @alisonrISU @DTelenko @BisonBeanDoc +more #soybean #agtwitter #agx #grow26 #USSoy

Gray leaf spot of corn occurs virtually every growing season and is often more severe in corn following corn. Disease is favored by warm (80s°F), humid (>90% for 12+ hours) weather. Severity depends on hybrid susceptibility and environment. Resistant hybrids are available. Crop rotation and tillage reduce fungus survival. Foliar fungicides are available, but are less likely to be profitable if disease risk is low. Research from @PurdueFoodSci shows that hemp seed may help reduce gut inflammation and relieve tissue damage, found in a dextran sulfate sodium-induced inflammatory bowel disease mouse model. Now, with funding from @USDA_NIFA, @LifeAtPurdue Weicang Wang and his team are further studying how hemp seed interacts with the gut microbiota and its potential role in preventing inflammatory bowel disease. #PurdueOneHealth #PurdueAg ag.purdue.edu/news/2025/07/e…
