I am a Rhode Islander with conservative values.  A 2A supporter, a supporter of school choice and going back to standard curriculum.  No DEI and sexual agendas in schools!  No men in women’s sports!  No new taxes, time to rein in the utility companies and lower our bills, remove illegals out of all free government programs that are supposed to be for the elderly, the veterans and the underprivileged!  This will also free up federal funds to us by ending Sanctuary State status!  Forensic audits of all departments to see where the money went and then downsize!  We can make Rhode Island a wonderful place to live and attract new business, have tourists be happy to come back, rent or own here, clean up our farmland and coastline to be free of fake solar and wind from China!  So many issues to fix!  I love my state and will fight to make it right!

AITAH? Saturday night my oldest granddaughter, Di (12), asked to borrow my AirPods. I said yes but she had to clean them after she used them. Late last night, I was looking for them and couldn’t find them. I texted her and asked where she put them. Zero response. This morning, she wrote me to ask me to bring 1 of her leotards to her at school ( 35 minutes away), because she forgot them all here. Again, I asked about the AirPods. Again, no response. Instead, she asked if would PLEASE bring her leotard because she doesn’t have any at her Dad’s house and she has practice after school. At this point, I’m annoyed. I ask about the AirPods for the 3rd time, and I don’t mention the leotard. She finally says this: “They must have ended up in my backpack.” I tell her nothing “ends up” in her backpack without her purposefully putting it in there. I further explain that she has stolen from me, and then has the nerve to ask me for a favor. This is a child who I get up extra early for to do her hair whenever she asks. Who I spoil beyond reasonableness. She then says I can have MY AirPods back when I drop off her leotards. The f’ing nerve of this kid. She doesn’t put her leotards in her backpack, but she does put my property in there, without my consent. I inform her she is a thief and that me doing any favors for her AT ALL is over until she returns my property. And I am not playing. She will get nothing from me. No more doing her hair, getting her new clothes, driving to pick her up or drop her off at her bestie’s house, no more special request dinners or breakfasts. I am done. I think a hard lesson MUST be learned. Even if she has her regional gymnastics competition this coming weekend, I am not changing my mind. Am I the asshole here?

I'm not really a fan of US involvement in the Middle East either. But this isn't some new venture. This is the world we have inherited. The hand we've been dealt so to speak. If it was simply a matter of America pulling all assets out of the region and trusting that the different groups there would just "duke it out" amongst themselves and ultimately figure it out and the damage would be isolated to just that region, then sure, most people in America would probably choose that. But the reality is that where there is a power vacuum, which is what we would leave behind, somebody, likely China, is going to step in and fill it. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, who knows? In an ideal situation I would rather see the US redirect it's efforts and assets to here in this hemisphere. Canada, Mexico, Greenland, any number of nations in South America. They have resources that could be developed and energy and agricultural partnerships with the US and US business would be advantageous for all parties. All groups would be better off in terms of military security and economically keeping things closer to home.

A woman riding the train alone encounters a man who keeps making references to her and another woman traveling alone. He repeatedly makes threats towards them, although the woman is calm on the outside, she’s terrified on the inside. What is terrifying to me is that the role making the comments of harm to others are allowed to do so. Nobody on that train thought to call authorities after numerous threats. We all know what can happen on these trains, are we willing to take that risk again?
