Neal B. Freeman: My friend Buckley taught me that, in the pursuit of truth, it is neither wise nor noble to avoid contention. An idea challenged can become an understanding improved. Thanks to all of you for stopping by. The pleasure has been mine. nationalreview.com/2026/05/a-note…

Look at all the 🇺🇸 trade that's now happening without the Jones Act in effect. And the Jones Act fleet is still fully booked. This is all extra shipping, from Americans to Americans, that's happening just because government got out of the way.

Graham Platner is a private prep school attendee and the grandson of a world-renowned architect, and he has relied on his Ivy League-educated father for financial assistance well into his adulthood. He nonetheless identifies as a “working-class Mainer.” How is that possible? Platner attempted to answer that question in a recent interview with the New York Times, laying out an “expansive definition” of what it means to be working-class in America. “In this day and age, you are working class if you make your money from work and wages,” he said. That would certainly rule out Kennedy scion Jack Schlossberg, who hasn’t worked a day in his life, but it leaves room for plenty of others. Here’s a look at some of the people who would qualify as working class, according to Platner and courtesy of @AndrewStilesUSA:

This is the right approach. Poland is a model ally that was spending 5% of GDP on defense before Trump asked all allies to do so. We should reward reliable allies while punishing those who refuse to stand with us.
Sean Parnell@SeanParnellASW

STATEMENT: The Department of War has reduced the total number of Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) assigned to Europe from four to three. This returns us to the levels of BCTs in Europe in 2021. This decision was the result of a comprehensive, multilayered process focused on U.S. force posture in Europe. This is resulting in a temporary delay of the deployment of U.S. forces to Poland, which is a model U.S. ally. The Department will determine the final disposition of these and other U.S. forces in Europe based on further analysis of U.S. strategic and operational requirements, as well as our allies’ own ability to contribute forces toward Europe’s defense. This analysis is designed to advance President Trump’s America First agenda in Europe and other theaters, including by incentivizing and enabling our NATO allies to take primary responsibility for Europe’s conventional defense. Secretary Hegseth spoke with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz earlier today, and the Department will remain in close contact with our Polish counterparts as this analysis proceeds, including to ensure that the United States retains a strong military presence in Poland. Poland has shown both the ability and resolve to defend itself. Other NATO allies should follow suit. The Department will provide more information at the appropriate time, in the appropriate setting.

It’s the year 2047. There are only 17 toddlers left in NYC, each of whom is lovingly cared for by 100,000 unionized caregivers.

You’re not sure “people,” i.e. the press, have a “right” to be “digging into” the taxpayer-funded benefits of our would be public servants? Well, that’s a position. It’s not ours. There is in fact a 100 percent disability rating that comes with work restrictions, as detailed meticulously in … the article.
Adam Kinzinger (Slava Ukraini) 🇺🇸🇺🇦@AdamKinzinger

What am i missing here? If he’s 100 percent VA rated, there’s no work restrictions. It’s not like other workman’s comp. Not sure people have a right to be digging into VA ratings.

Among administration officials, some make a joke: Just as “America Runs on Dunkin,” as the corporate slogan goes, the MAGA movement runs on Zyn. Ahead of foreign travel, officials are known to stock up on their nicotine pouches of choice. wsj.com/politics/polic…
