New Zealand All Blacks. Got to get your hits in. Fast. Hard. Need to: be in good timing, power coordination, accuracy, speed of stroke and working through that big bump-robust to contact. To limit contact load, bags and mats can be a good inseason choice.

One (of many) tings I stole from RG. If you want to train a specific part of The tackle. Don’t reduce it down (make it look pretty) make the focus area the hardest part. The drill design should “Force” the key aspect, or lose the rep.

Tackle Technique: - Continually rep different levels (Lev 1 - in this film…don’t forget Lev 2 & 3) - Coach put pressure on player in Track & Prep phases - Tackler, get around the edge & drop height - Tackler, has to square up late - Tackler, connect and accelerate the feet 🏈💥

@AdamArchuleta @real46defense @JonSvecX @RichieGrayGSI Speed positions to power positions. Weird terms I like: “squatty run”, 1v1 basketball or “in the box run”.. we want to keep attacking but find base and hips. Most change too drastically and too early. Stay as athletic as you can as long as you can. Dip late.

Also think we have to remember… why do we teach “break down” or “come to balance”? Presumably because we are trying to decide where the runner is going so we can meet him there - correct? The runner certainly doesn’t spend 3 or 4 steps making his cut - he declares rather quickly. We want to spend the least amount of time “coming to balance” as possible! I would not personally spend practice time “ breaking down”. Vs a stationary target - any stationary target work would be more focused on correct power step and force generation mechanics.

It’s the little bump. A good drill will get people out of good positions. Good players can reshape/refind the right body position. The game is chaotic and blockers get paid millions too. Better learn to navigate non-perfect.

Last clip. Huge hit but arms still get around. Hand to far wrist is normally a good sign we got deep into the tackle.

.@RiddellSports is sitting on the best tackling tech in the game and keeping it relatively quiet. These @RichieGrayGSI dummies and shields are the absolute best on the market. From Little League to the NFL, these are essential for teaching technique and finish. Every program in the country needs them! If you are a coach, go talk to your rep. --

It’s ok to add a little wiggle and cut to your tackle drills. I promise.

RTP progression from @RichieGrayGSI @AthleteShoulder simple thoughts for better progressions. Example below: 1-ISOs to refund/reeducate body shape. 2-Player movement stationary standalone bag. 3-Player and bag moving (un resisted). 4-Player and bag moving w/weight behind it.

2 great guys I respect (@richiegraygsi & @AthleteShoulder) whose work I admirer. Excited for the shoulder RTP program &love that we are incorporating technical coaching into RTP. Bags in bottom right range 33-72 lbs. Confidence to strike again; confidence in the shoulder “shock”.

One of the new All Blacks coaching staff. Do t have to know him or rugby to know that guy. The crusty old coach (in the best possible way) reminding everyone to nail the basics

“Enjoy the suffering”. With kids we often “hide the hard work” but adults and pros appreciate it too.

I’ve said for a long time. Refs are seen as the devil, could we make it cool? Important, respected?Celebrate it! If coaching wasn’t seen as only way to stay in the game, recruiting would skyrocket. How many college players that don’t make it could make great high level officials
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

The NFL is laying groundwork for hiring replacement officials this season if the league is unable to agree on a new collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Referees Association, per @SeifertESPN. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…
