Atlanta, colder temperatures are on the way and the City of Atlanta will open warming centers to help keep residents safe. Centers will be open overnight March 16–18. Old Adamsville Recreation Center will serve as an overflow location if additional space is needed.

Okay, so we've been told by @NWSAtlanta that we COULD see some snow showers this afternoon. No need to panic, though, as ground and roadway temperatures are well above freezing, so little to no accumulation is expected.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Atlanta GA, Sandy Springs GA and Roswell GA until 6:00 AM EDT

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning includes all of Fulton County for winds of 60 mph until 6 am. Seek shelter indoors and away from windows.

A Tornado Watch includes Fulton County until 10 am. A watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather and tornadoes. Stay alert and have multiple ways to receive warnings, identify where you will seek shelter, and go there when a warning is issued.

[Update 3/15 at 9:45 PM] As the strong cold front approaches the area, a line of strong thunderstorms is expected to enter far northwest GA after 1 AM, continuing south and east through the morning and early afternoon. Several storms within this line will likely be severe. (1/2)

Updated severe outlook: Most of the area remains under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5), however portions of west-central (tonight) and east-central (tomorrow morning) GA have been upgraded to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) due to increasing instability potential.#gawx
