Challenger 1’s and CVRT’s of the 17th/21st Lancers in an aerial photograph with the tanks forming the shape of the ‘motto’ of the regiment, see image 2 for reference.
Challenger 1’s form the outlines of the skull and crossbones, the eyes of the skull formed by the regimental 2iC (Second in Command) and one of the Squadron Leaders. The nose of the skull is formed by the CO’s tank with 2x CVRT Sultan command vehicles on the flanks. The teeth of the skull being formed by the REME LAD (light aid detachment) with Chieftain ARV’s (armoured recovery vehicles), finally with Recce Troop’s CVRT’s forming the majority of the motto banner.
Unlike other armies, the British Army utilises regiment/squadron/troop nomenclature for tank/cavalry units, as do many other commonwealth nations, rather than the usual battalion/company/platoon terms used by other countries.

@RobCharltir5 @agbdrilling No problem, thanks for the info. I’ve sent you a private message

@AFVRec_ @agbdrilling Soltau in the Summer was like a mud desert at times. I just cant remember exactly where the brick was taken though, sorry.
English

@RobCharltir5 @agbdrilling Ah, colours looked very BATUS-esque. I’m assuming the ‘nose’ of the skull here is the CO’s tac group given the tank is flanked by 2x Sultans, which C/S’s formed the skulls eyes?

@thinkdefence How else would the humble command troop justify its existence other than mass clusters of tents, camouflage nets and 432’s?

@AMK_Mapping_ Surely they’d have dug in MG positions like that by now and made it somewhat more defendable

@Daidalos2047 I’m not sure on ZBD-04A control panels, but in my experience the driver controls the exhaust smoke from his control panel whereas the commander and/or gunner control the smoke grenade dischargers from their respective control panels.
English

@AFVRec_ Something I want to note here: Heavy white smoke means it was already doing exhaust-fuel injection as a functional demonstration. Either the mechanics did something wrong when wiring that smoke wall button with smoke grenades or the control panel of both sits on the same tableu
English

@TongLianheng I think it was a malfunction given that only a single grenade fired, generally smoke grenades are fired in banks (left or right) at the commanders discretion. At least in my experience anyway.
English

@AFVRec_ Looks AI, that looks nothing like how smoke grenades explode. Smoke grenades are designed to shoot into the air and explode in air to create a smoke curtain. That footage looks like a simulation of a mortar round.
