@AnalyticsForest @danscapephoto Chris is right. The legal person here is/should be CFC. It’s perhaps unfortunate for the current owners but the sanctions have to be applied to the club (as well as if possible to the previous owners). And perhaps their due diligence should have identified the liability.

When you become a custodian of a football club you take on all of missteps from previous ownership, just as they’re taking on all that has benefited Chelsea from that time. Look at Sheff Wed, they’re gonna have a wage cap at a minimum and they’ve gained 0 sporting advantage for their previous ownership transgressions. Chelsea are continuing to see a sporting advantage from that time, it’s had a knock on effect. I don’t buy there wasn’t enough time to do due diligence. Even if that’s the case, it’s quite irrelevant. They should have had a transfer ban imo. That’s what they were probably expecting a few years ago. Hence the stock piling.

If you read far enough you get past the reactive stuff to the reality........ "No two cases are identical, and the Chelsea circumstances do carry genuine mitigating weight. The conduct occurred under previous ownership. The new owners voluntarily disclosed the issues and co-operated throughout a lengthy investigation. These are not trivial considerations." Giving the current Chelsea team a points deduction is not a deterrent when dealing with offences from 8-15 years ago, which are entirely beyond the control of the current version of the club. The key punishments should be restricting the previous owners and executives from any future roles at clubs in England due to their actions. The fine should be much more significant and shouldn't have been reduced. If you really want a sporting sanction, then you strike their title-winning seasons from the official record. Even then, it doesn't really punish the people actually responsible for this. A points deduction works as a deterrent for PSR because it's as close to 'real-time' punishment as you can get. It punishes people breaking the rules. A points deduction enforced now for dodgy owners 10+ years ago would be daft, and if anything, it just incentivises new owners hiding any such problems they uncover. Whataboutery comes in lots of forms. Often, for instant clicks and anger. The reality is this is a specific case with a lot of context. It's not comparable to Forest & Everton breaching PSR within the 3-year period it runs for, affecting the current team. Fans, players, and most staff cannot control who owns their clubs and how they behave. Points deductions should be a last resort because the impact mainly hurts those who follow the club for life, not those passing through who can conceal and deal and walk away.

@danscapephoto It’s frustrating that they yet again couldn’t turn this into actual G. But it’s better this than a poor XG and no goals. Or perhaps it’s the hope that’ll kill us.

@wt_analysis Agreed. I like pereira. Clearly improved morale as well as evidence of his influence on the pitch. But without goals, we will be relegated.

Thoughts on #NFFC tonight. Disappointment. An entirely avoidable goal on a night where Forest somehow find a way to lose a game they should never lose. Aina's defending for the goal is awful, and it's really made the second leg a lot more difficult. I saw plenty of stuff tonight that was encouraging, especially in the way that Pereira asked Forest to progress the ball, and rotate players to create more space. In particular the set up from deep often put 5 players (including the wing-backs) in the centre circle, before they would all break in different directions. Unfortunately though, for all the good work in moving the ball, Forest as ever struggled in the final third. They forced Olafsson into a couple of decent saves, but I only really remember one or two clear cut chances. It was a shame to see Jair Cunha get injured after having to wait so long for a consistent opportunity, hopefully it isn't too serious but it certainly didn't look great. I thought Hutchinson, although bright was ultimately disappointing. His composure in the final third was severely lacking, and from my seat it looked like he was complaining that Gibbs-White had actually passed him the ball in the box. He's fortunate that Bakwa & Ndoye have struggled for form and fitness because at the moment it feels like he's in the side by default rather than having deserved it. It's a massive 10 days for the club, starting on Sunday. At full strength Forest should be able to cause Fulham problems, there's clearly been some good work going on at the training ground but Forest simply have to convert that into goals - I fear this fragile team can't take many more defeats like this, so they really need to start giving them a bit of space during games to absorb mistakes like Aina's today.

There are 7 teams in the Prem who only have 1 win or fewer in the last 6 games. We are one of them, but we still have 4 of the other out of form teams to play #nffc

Look it's in the Telegraph: GAS PRICE SURGE threatens to send household bills SOARING! That happened when Russia invaded Ukraine, remember. Oh, but yeh let's stop investing in new sources of more secure energy and keep relying on gas. telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

Any of the 'just using more gas would be cheaper' growth bros want to come at me on this today? Again, if you think the world is going to become a more stable place in the coming years, then by all means slow the transition to renewables and lean back on gas. However:
Jan Rosenow@janrosenow

Gas prices jumped again this morning and are on track to double - a stark reminder of our exposure to fossil fuel volatility. The real solution isn’t more drilling, but moving away from combustion: electrify, use renewable power, and boost energy efficiency.

'It turns out that making the transition to clean energy while keeping the price down is hard' notes @martinwolf_ in today's FT. Certainly true if you pay for Capex intensive but opex light renewables via a market intended to manage ongoing fuel costs. ft.com/content/86fdb9…

@Panks80 Though I think Pereira is positioning some of the squad players for prem starts - Cunha, Netz (who can only play in Prem), Ndoye, who may be better-suited to the wing back role. Dominguez key to taking pressure of Ando and Ibra. Last piece in the puzzle is McAtee as 2nd 10

@nffc1865__ The three CBs is where Pereira is heading, obviously. I really like that he's developing Cunha, who seems talented, assured and quite pacy. Under this scenario, I think Ndoye starts on the right. And sometime Netz too, who looks okay.

@YouBloodyReds And Netz, who looks comfortable and progressive, not in Europa squad, which means it's smart of Pereira to use him in Prem. I also like that he's clearly decided to develop Cunha rather than just hope Murillo and Milenko stay fit. All-round good work from the bench.

Netz has to play in Prem. Really good to see him used. Cunha looks good and needs game time and development, also good to see him used. We have to get some use out of our wingers, good to see them used. Signs that Pereira will do what he can to keep us up #NFFC

@danscapephoto signs too that pereira may make better use of the squad and is unafraid to change the system. the 3/5 man back line worked better, Cunha looks pretty comfortable. I think even Bakwa could be a decent player in time. Certainly has some pace.

@AJPendleton Only lost 2 at home all season. Their weakness if defence and we didn’t exploit it enough, but we were never going to have a comfortable game. In the end the manner of the goals very frustrating, but we stayed in the game to have a chance.
