Shout out to the fans at Fenway, man. Weather sucks, the team’s record sucks, and they’re bringing the energy like the season depends on this game.

@jimsoxfan You get the feeling they are afraid he will be a really good shortstop which is crazy!

Jen McCaffrey is saying the Red Sox have been making calls looking to add a bat, and the position doesn’t matter since it’s been a wide spread issue. I said weeks ago I wouldn’t be surprised if Craig was working the phones. Sure, good offense lately, but this needs to get done.

Saddest part is, I genuinely believe Craig Breslow is trying his hardest to give us a winning product. Unfortunately, 28 other GM’s won’t pick up their phones. I guess this is what happens when you hire an unqualified person for an important position.

Jovani Morán as a reliever: 23.2 IP, 5 ER (1.90 ERA) Jovani Morán as an opener: 3 IP, 5 ER (15.00 ERA) Not sure why the Red Sox keep having him open.

@HackswithHaggs If he is more comfortable at center why force him to the wing? The B’s need a 1C what do you have to lose by giving the kid a shot?

Catching up on Team USA/Latvia game from earlier. By far the best I have seen James Hagens play at any point since leaving Boston College. Played fast and aggressive. The trick will be getting him to play that way at wing rather than center spot where he seems most comfortable

The Red Sox plan to play Marcelo Mayer at shortstop for the first time in 2026 on Sunday, Chad Tracy said (via @timbhealey). TBD on if he will play there against all pitching. But he will be the primary SS starting Sunday.

I keep saying it. Pitching is so broken it's breathtaking. Just take a peek at the 1st pitch of the SD/LA game. Spin rate? Check! Velocity? Check! Command? Nowhere to be seen. I cannot explain how FAR from pitching this is. On the first pitch, hell the first inning, you are working your fastball around the zone to get a feel for the corners and your command. You might throw 2 of your 3-4 pitches but most nights April to September you don't show your arsenal in the first, you need to get hitters out a couple times. You hold on to the 3 and 4 pitches that you setup in the 1st AB and in the hitters ahead of a guy for later ABs. I am unsure I can explain just how far this one pitch, and the ENTIRE process behind it, is removed from pitching. Having said that I do NOT blame the pitchers. The game is to blame. When you're working on 300 million dollar deals hoping to get 150 innings from a guy, that tells ya all you need to know. It's certainly not an easy fix, nor a quick one, but from the draft to MLB there is ABSOLUTELY a process to 'fix' this crap. Not to mention fewer DL stints, fewer TJ surgeries and longer shelf life for SP.

@jaketodonnell You do not trade that arm for Caleb Durbin. I am still not convinced that Breslow can evaluate talent which is a critical part of his role.

My nuanced Harrison take: It was reasonable to believe, and remains so, that Early and Tolle will be better MLB starters than Harrison. He’s been better this year so far. The problem: asset management. Trading Harrison for an actual power bat was the move. That’s what stings.

Red Sox when they score 2 or less runs are a bad baseball team. Red Sox when they score 3 runs are a pretty good baseball team. Red Sox when they score 4 runs are deadly. Why not add a bat and see how far the run prevention unit can go? There really aren’t many other choices.

Play Tessie Ep 354: You Buying It? After a sweep of the Royals, are you buying the Red Sox uptick? At the very least, the winning formula is clear: score 3-4 runs and wins will follow. Plus, is Jarren Duran back? 👀 🎧 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pla…

@smclaughlin9 I love when you stick a 19 year old kid on the fourth line playing short minutes and expect him to be effective.

@Sweeneysucks @_TyAnderson Which forwards drafted by Sweeney should have developed? DeBrusk got a >$7m deal on the open market as a mid first round pick. They literally haven’t taken a forward higher than him. It’s DeBrusk and Lysell who was a known gamble. Who could he have developed?
