You can now pass through TSA PreCheck at Logan using only your face. Should that make us nervous?
To some electronic privacy and civil liberties advocates, TSA’s facial recognition expansion comes as more of a dystopian omen than a cutting-edge marvel. ⬇️

@MBTA Regular service from Washington to BC, though? Because the MBTA app is giving conflicting info.

Special thanks to @HeathAlt, @jd_waller, and everyone at BDC who pitched in on coverage (or listened to me blab about this case for 2+ years). It was a privilege to report on this.

“No one has fought harder for justice for John O’Keefe than I have — than I have, and my team,” a triumphant #KarenRead said on the courthouse steps following her acquittal on a second degree murder charge in O'Keefe's death.

Jurors have spared #KarenRead a possible life sentence and acquitted her of second degree murder, only finding her guilty of OUI in the 2022 death of her boyfriend, John O’Keefe.
The verdict brings an end to a contentious case that rocked the Boston area.

Great update on Monday's John O'Keefe and Karen Read re-trial from @AMPatkin.
There's a reason Karen's defense went on the attack rather than addressing the new Lexus data:
Karen's own expert from the first trial "missed" the backup event right as John's phone stopped moving.
Hank Brennan's expert Shannon Burgess provided foundational evidence of Karen's car backing up circa 12:32:04–12:32:12AM (just seconds before John's phone stopped moving at 12:32:09AM).
More state experts from Aperture are expected to present the data, in the form of a crash reconstruction analysis, later on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
That is what the entire re-trial has been leading up, without question. Jurors know Karen was drunk driving at the time of John's death, and that the two had been in an argument in those fateful moments leading up to 12:31AM on 1/29/22.
Read, alleges the state, backed her cap up to 24.2mph (with a BAC between 0.14-0.28, 2-4 times the legal limit), sideswiped John causing him to fall to the ground with a traumatic head injury and then left John to die on a lawn, in a blizzard, from hypothermia and brain damage.

Stifling yawns, prospective jurors in Karen Read’s murder trial listened Tuesday as Judge Beverly Cannone offered a rundown of the basics.
Then Cannone asked the question of the hour: Have you seen, heard, or talked about this case?

So far the closest pair of Dunks I can find are 490ft apart in the Longwood Galleria and Beth Israel Rosenberg Building but I'm confident there's gotta be a closer pair somewhere in the city and I'm on the hunt to find it
