CNN's @MrShermichael Singleton on Democrats winning the Virginia gerrymandering vote: "I mean, look, I'm not happy about this. What we're seeing is the gradual destruction of institutions in our country. So, what happens when you create an atmosphere and an environment where compromise no longer exists? Yeah, maybe this is good for Democrats today, but. But is it good for the long run? Probably not. For four years, there was an argument from my friends on the other side about democracy, our democracy falling in darkness. Well, how in the hell is this preserving democracy? And look, I'm not saying that one side over the other doesn't gerrymander. Hell, they all gerrymandered. It's just not a good thing at all. The American people don't benefit from this. And as someone who resides in Virginia, where you have, what, 40% percent of the state that voted for the previous -- or for the current President, rather, leaving only one Republican congressional seat seems to be in -- in force of democracy and protecting the constitution and the preservation of these great ideals? I would think not."

@kyk1opes @brianeskow I would gladly, but only if Dems support a provision and an anti-gerrymandering bill to only count US citizens for the census for representation apportionment.

@HartmanJer40531 @GenoVeno73 @elonmusk Sure if you’re just looking at voting power in national politics as a whole. But if you’re looking at it from a voters perspective of who’s getting most disenfranchised, Virginia Republicans are getting screwed more than Texan Democrats.

@ANCpoli @GenoVeno73 @elonmusk 43% of 38 Texas would mean dems should control 16 seats (5 more) in Texas. 46% of 11 seats in VA mean GOP control 5 seats (4 more) in VA. Dems are still net 1 down.

@TiredOfDaReight @DefiyantlyFree Getting rid of democracy to preserve democracy is the worst take I’ve ever heard. I don’t like what Texas did either. But an eye and eye makes the whole world blind. At least try to have some principles if you’re going to campaign on democracy as a party.

@ANCpoli @DefiyantlyFree The Dems just voted as a counter to the bullshit Texas pulled. Again, had the GoP agreed to ban the gerrymandering, none of this nonsense would happen. Blame tRump for asking Texas to find him five more seats, and those idiots in Texas for complying.

If 55% of a state votes red and 45% of a state votes blue there should be six Republican seats and four Democrat seats. That’s what Republicans did with gerrymandering. Democrats took took a state that votes 47.5% Republican and 52.5% Democrat and gave democrats 10 seats to one Republican. They completely screwed over their own voters on the process. It is not the same thing. Anyone making that argument is morally bankrupt.

@DefiyantlyFree Oh, damn, now think this would've never happened if the GoP had voted to ban gerrymandering, and hadn't fucked around in other states to do the exact same thing, except without voter input.

@TyDemo92 @ChrisCuomo That’s the thing tho, VA did do that. We just voted in 2020 to have a bipartisan commission draw the lines. No partisan gerrymandering. The commission did a good job keeping it proportional. This Democrat referendum totally obliterated that.

@ChrisCuomo If republicans wanted to, they can make partisan gerrymandering illegal If it’s such a huge issue, why would they not do that? It’s all a game man.

@GenoVeno73 @elonmusk Texas Dems (≈43% of the vote) win 11/38 seats (28.9%). In a VA 10D/1R map, Republicans (≈46% of the vote) would get just 1/11 seats (9.1%). That’s a far bigger gap, meaning the VA scenario would give much less power to the minority party than Texas.

MAGA: "Yay, Trump asked Texas and other states to gerrymander to gain more Republican seats." ALSO MAGA: "Hey, it's not fair that Democratic states are gerrymandering to gain more Democratic seats." And THAT is why MAGA are the dumbest motherfuckers on this planet @Geiger_Capital @elonmusk

@Joan_of_Snarc @CurtisHouck @MrShermichael Explain to me why I as a Virginian should lose my voice simply because of what Texas did. You can talk all you want about national politics but this is about state politics too. I disagree with what Texas did btw. I actually believe in democracy unlike you. You believe in power.

It took NASA almost 10 years to get to Pluto which is around 4,000,000,000 Miles away - they just sent this footage back to Earth. Hey @grok how did NASA calculate this ‘Space’ Crafts trajectory over a 10 year period, compensating for both Earth and Pluto orbiting the Sun at around 16,000mph, in a universe which is expanding at 166,000mph - and still manage to align with the Plutos orbit after travelling 4 Bullion miles through the cold hard vacuum space? Is it possible this is just more NASA CGI?

@JFB2727 @SwipeWright @nosoup4knowles Some of the Qatar money stuff Is pretty sketchy. Qatar spends around 4 Billion a year to influence the US. They paid a PR firm, Lumen8, $180,000/month to get an interview with Tucker. Tucker even said he was buying a house in Qatar last December.

@AngelMD1103 DoorDash an Uber eats are extremely expensive as a customer. The price of the food itself is higher than usual and the delivery fee is astronomical. This makes people not tip. Yet the driver sees very little of the delivery fee. That’s the problem.

He pulled up to the quiet suburban house after driving 35 minutes in traffic, juggling three orders at once. The food was still hot, the drinks hadn’t spilled, and he even double-checked the extra sauces. When he completed the delivery and saw the total payout , $2.75 with no tip, something in him snapped. He threw his hands up, started ranting in his car, and recorded a furious video about “customers who don’t value drivers.” I get that tipping is technically optional, but in gig work it’s often the difference between profit and loss. At the same time, crashing out at someone’s doorstep only hurts your own reputation. Maybe the bigger question is: should platforms like DoorDash structure pay in a way that drivers don’t feel like they’re gambling on kindness every shift? Was his reaction over the top… or was it the buildup of gas prices, long waits, and feeling invisible that finally pushed him there?

@carsonkrow I’m all for voter ID but the fact that Congress won’t pass a bill that the American people want isn’t taxation without representation. It’s just the vicissitudes of a republic.

If Congress won’t pass a bill that 83% of US citizens are asking for— that means we have taxation without representation. I do not consent.

I’m interested in what would cause ICE to say “wait, we actually killed an American citizen by mistake.” The immediate reflexive “s/he deserved it” regardless of the evidence or video is disgusting.

I don't care if you support or oppose ICE. Personally, I'm 100% behind removing EVERY SINGLE illegal immigrant. But, ICE murdered a man today simply for open carrying. Government assassinated someone for existing with the means of self-defense in a holster & a coward killed him.
