The Minister of State for Housing, Persis Namuganza has maintained that she is still in the race for the Speakership of the 12th Parliament having been the first person to announce her candidacy, saying that her intention is to restore the dignity and respect of Parliament that was ruined by the leadership of the 11th Parliament through the corruption and looting of public resources. Namuganza noted, “The 11th parliament has been self-centred, there has been missing money, looting money and disorganising Parliament, because Parliament has been disorganised right from the technical wing. You find people, they are 12 in any number, in one room, you don't know who is the boss. Here, the parliamentary leadership is the one that has been bringing technical people, whether somebody is qualified or not qualified. They give them positions in a manner which is not guided as far as our public service is concerned. UPDATE: The Inspector General of Government (IGG) Justice Aisha Batala Naluzze has revealed that 61,570 public officers failed to declare their income, assets and liabilities during the April wealth declaration exercise. Out of 302,800 officials, only 241,230 complied with the legal requirement.
