Baksa’s Pure Honey Marks a Global Milestone. In a significant boost to the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, the first-ever export of ODOP Honey from Baksa, Assam to the United States was flagged off through the initiative of APEDA on 9th May 2026. The consignment of nearly 20 metric tonnes of honey, exported by APEDA-registered exporter Salt Range Foods Pvt. Ltd., marks a major step towards empowering farmers, promoting products from Aspirational Districts, and strengthening India’s global agri-export footprint. Sourced from eco-friendly and pesticide-free environments, the honey from Baksa district is known for its high quality and near-organic characteristics, reflecting the region’s rich biodiversity and sustainable agricultural practices. Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (@APEDADOC) has signed a 70-year lease agreement with Uttar Pradesh’s Agriculture Department to establish a Basmati and Organic Training Centre in Pilibhit. The facility, developed over approximately seven acres, will include an auditorium, museum and gallery on Basmati and organic farming, conference room, laboratory, and storage space for organic inputs. Major initiative towards strengthening India’s Basmati Eco-system: Government of Uttar Pradesh transfers 7 Acres of land to APEDA, on a long term lease of 70 years,  for the establishment of Basmati & Organic Training Centre-cum-Demo Farm in Pilibhit district. The registration of lease deed was done in the August presence of Shri Jitin Prasada, Hon’ble Minister of State, Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology and Senior Public representatives of the district. The project envisages the development of an Basmati and Organic demonstration farm, an administrative building housing a state of the art auditorium for conducting training & capacity building programmes for farmers, a museum and gallery on the theme of Basmati & Organic, a seed storage facility, centre for organic input distribution etc. The initiative is expected to promote scientific and sustainable agricultural practices, encourage organic cultivation, strengthen seed quality and traceability systems, and facilitate greater access to premium export markets, thereby enhancing farmers’ incomes and ensuring long-term sustainability of the Basmati sector.
